Very far fetched. I don’t see football changing from the current format, no matter what is happening. Maybe extra time will go, outside of that, rule changes are nothing new now.
Are we far away from heading the ball getting banned or even tackling? I look back to how much the game has changed commercially in the last 30 years ago. Did we even have shirt sponsors in 1990's? Modern technology is bound to have an impact over the next 30 years. No idea where. Are we that far away from been able to watch a 3D game in our living rooms, where we could place our armchair anywhere on the pitch? Some have suggested we'll actually all be watching computer games. Looking at the crowds they do get for their events, it makes you wonder. Us dinosaurs do moan about how sanitised the game has become. The article did get me wondering where it is going. Depressing subject for a Monday morning!
I think that article is way over the top and also not very accurate, there's a lot of nonsense about Chinese typhoons. Shirt sponsorship started in the 70's, but was problematic, clubs didn't have permission and TV companies refused to broadcast games involving clubs with adverts on their shirts. By the late 80's, every league club had a shirt sponsor.
