Wembley Play-off final with the inherent possibility of losing, or automatic promotion but no walk down Olympic Way???
I just don't think we're ready for promotion, not that I think we are capable of getting it anyway. I'd probably say Wembley.
Automatic for me. League champions preferably but 2nd would good. Can;t see either happening though but we live in hope.
I'd just love another day out to Wembley if I'm honest, and the extra £60 million from winning there wouldn't go amiss either..
Auto promotion for me, I'd be happy with runners up, the drama of the play offs is exciting, but gutting if we came 3rd and lost to the team in 6th yet they finished 6 points behind us.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that figure just money gained through TV rights, PL money, etc. on promotion? So you'd still get it if you went up automatically? I'd rather go up automatically this time around. The Wembley thing was part of the fairy tale last time, but we've been there now and there's no need to start risking our 100% record there now. We are steadily building the team and the club for bigger and better things, an early promotion would simply accelerate that even if we came straight back down, because with prudent ownership and management we'd come down loaded.
If only we could be this picky...... The day at Wembley was amazing but i am not sure i would be able to cope with what Bristol City had to do that day, if we was guranteed to win i would take Wembley if not of course i would tkae automatic promotion!
That's the point in a nutshell!! Trying to gauge how much value people put on that day at Wembley and what they would be prepared to risk to repeat it. The reason things like Wembley are SO VALUABLE is partly to do with what you risk in order to win. As you rightly say what Brizzle went through that day was massively horrible but wasn't the possibility of that being us part of what made our victory so sweet? Having said that, going through that again might just lessen the memory of that day; almost dilute it. What I wouldn't particularly like would to finish second; what an anti-climax that would be, not even a trophy!!
I don't think we're quite ready for it this season but i've gone for automatics. I'd love another day out at Wembley, but our last trip to Wembley was beyond anything any of us expected and we'd have enjoyed the day out regardless, whereas this time having lost the novelty factor of been at Wembley for the first time a defeat might take the shine off the day out. It's kind of like going to Old Trafford, Anfield and The Emirates in our second Premier League season, the novelty factor has worn off after the first season and the result seems worse if we lose.
