Just found out we lost a music great on Monday with the loss of Jim Steinman to kidney failure. Let’s hope it’s heaven and not hell. RIP Jim.
I did like Slade, certainly their early pre glam rock output .Good marketing by Chas Chandler, but pseudo skinheads all the same.
Michael Collins - one of the three crew members of the first manned mission to the Moon, Apollo 11 in 1969 - has died aged 90. RIP Only Buzz Aldrin left
RIP Mr Collins , I remember me and my friend using his telescope to view the moon on the evening of the landing, we both convinced ourselves we could see Eagle on the surface . I kept an airfix model of saturn 5 for years , probably worth a fortune now , or not
Swansea City is saddened to learn of the passing of the club’s former midfielder Richard ‘Dixie’ Hale, at the age of 85. The Irishman started his career at hometown club Waterford, and also played for Shamrock Rovers and Cork Hibernians before his move to Swansea in August 1959. Under manager Trevor Morris, Hale would score three goals in 34 league appearances for the Swans before joining Barrow in 1961. Stints with Workington, Watford – where he won the Third Division title in 1969 – King’s Lynn, Wealdstone, Pembroke Borough and Pontardawe followed. He continued to play regularly until hanging up his boots at the age of 54, with Hale and his family settling in Swansea after his return to Wales in the Welsh leagues. Swansea City sends its sincere condolences to Dixie’s friends and family at this sad time. RIP Dixie
Sad to hear! Dixie was a good friend when I played for Plasmarl - used to train us sometimes but always drank with us - good squash player as well a real gentleman!
