With the Bertand news confirmed that leaves us needing at least 2 new full backs. Whoever we sign as a first choice LB I just hope they offer similar to KWP as I think we are so much better down the right side with him in the side.
"Bollocks to that. Anyone can play left-back." From Ralph Hassenhuttl's Guide to Football Management.
To those talking about Armstrong from Blackburn - would his lack of height be an issue in the Premier League? I haven’t seen him play I guess he must have completely adapted to not need it because it is not even like a great vertical leap would make that much of a difference Our team is already diminutive so something to watch out for
I am sure transfermarkt suggests they will only have 13 under contract if they all leave. I have no idea who (if any) from that lot they are trying to extend
Ive only watched him once I believe but he was talked about pre game as the main man by Sky. My main recollection is he would get the ball and just shoot from basically anywhere. I’m talking like 35 yards from goal and just take a touch and shoot Was only one game so obviously not a good sample size but Schad posted a stat about his shots per game or something being really high and that would go along with that.
Thought I'd look up his shot locations, and they're really something. Compare his shot positions to Toney's: Toney - 16 shots within the six-yard box (11.9%), 90 within the area otherwise (66.7%), 29 from outside the box (21.5%). Armstrong - 3 shots within the six-yard box (1.6%!), 130 within the area otherwise (68.8%), 56 from outside the box (29.9%). So it might not be a case of him being bad at finishing, so much as he's rather unnervingly allergic to being in the places where goals are most likely to happen, preferring to operate in areas where he gets space and can just fire away. He actually got his shots on target at a pretty good clip, he just shoots from a lot of low-percentage places. Now I really wish I'd watched Blackburn, because that sounds entertaining. A bit silly, but entertaining.
Why don't we go the whole hog and buy Zaha, if only to see how JWP's captaincy skills have developed....
I wouldn't be against Theo staying because as others have said he did OK before his injury. Not only that he could be an asset by helping the youngsters and maybe becoming a coach later.
All depends on his wages really, can only see him as a bit part player (unless he sorts himself out) coming off the bench or filling in during serious injury problems
he's rather unnervingly allergic to being in the places where goals are most likely to happen,
Good sentence! - not a great attribute....
If Hodgson retires and Lampard comes in, I would be worried about Palace next season if they have to assemble a new squad quickly.
It depends on how many generous loans / transfers he gets from Chelsea this time For example they might jump to top of the list to loan Guehi if Chelsea don’t want to sell him. For example I would fully expect him to go there if it came down to Palace vs Saints There is a limit per club in the PL isn’t there? Is it one or two? I just seem to recall he really benefited from goodwill / Chelsea links at Derby
