I'm not too sure. I think it was about 10000. But 6000 in League one at this stage is an excellent achievement. I hope we push up to 10000 plus.

Will buy mine this weekend I think.
Hope my old seat is still available, but if not I'll have to come and sit next to one of you <hug>

There's a real hunger to get back in the grounds and watch football with a noisy fanbase. The last year has been like alcohol free beer - you accept it if you are driving or medically real beer will kill you, but it isn't what a beer in a pub with your mates is all about.

What's the word in Spain for fans going back into grounds?

It started regionally this weekend in the first and second division. Galicia and Castilla-Leon had some fans in, and Celta will have around 6000 today. The infection rates are still relatively high in Madrid and Catalunya but slowly coming down. No rush to be honest - 80 people died yesterday of covid, and that's way too many. Safety first.

    Got my ST <ok>

Got my old seat too :emoticon-0100-smile also, had some credit from the games missed after March 2020, that helped with the price.
    Looking forward to August now.
Just hoping the COVID restrictions are not too smothering...

If we have a good summer squad rebuild, there might be a chance to double that figure - maybe even get to 15,000?
For a L1 season that'll be pretty damned good <ok>

His mum might be able to try out Harry's seat for him, restrictions permitting.

I doubt if there's anything in the ST small print to prevent her using it on his behalf.

60k fans allowed for the final at Wembley in the Euros.
This should then mean around 17k will be at The Valley for the opening game in August. I'm glad I was wildly out with my prediction six weeks ago.

Do I detect a hint of irony?

Wembley in the Euros is being beamed around the world.
It's a 2 hour TV advert saying "Look how Great England is".

That's why they're letting fans in to watch the tennis at Wimbledon too.
Global advertising for how wonderful this country is.

Sadly, that won't be the case for games at the Valley, or any other EFL ground or non-league ground.
If 17,000 fans are allowed into the Valley in August I'll be absolutely astounded.
I'm not a betting man, but if I was, my 50p would be on a maximum capacity of 25% an no away fans.
Probably with masks and distancing and proof of double jab and/or negative test result etc. etc....

No coincidence that fans can go to events on global sports TV, but still can't go to 99% of live gigs,
or the Notting Hill Carnival - or any other similar events as far as I know.
The Fringe at the Edinburgh Festival this year for instance?
I've heard nothing about that at all. Presumably it's not happening again.

Events like those don't have the same world-wide marketing potential for Boris's England, so they don't get permission to go ahead.
Is lower league and non-league football really going to be allowed to have unlimited fans attending?
    I very much doubt it.
