This lad I know went to the police recently after his mrs went bat-**** at him and hit him in the face. He was bruised and bloodied and it wasn't the first time she'd done it, he was very upset about it. The policeman on the duty desk told him to "Buy her some flowers and tell her you're sorry". He returned home and she kicked off again - he slapped her 'round the face to stop her next attack. She ran away to her mates house. 20 mins later FIVE police cars and a RIOT VAN turn up at his place - he's nicked, spent the night in the cells and eventually fined for common assault. Seems perfectly balanced to me...
