Good Morning. It's Tuesday 11th May, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    Consolidate or push on?

How will Leeds fare in their remaining games at Turf Moor, St Marys and home to West Brom? They currently sit in 10th place on 50 points, two points behind the Gunners, five behind Everton and six points behind Spurs in seventh place on 56 points.

Last season Spurs finished 6th on 59 points. Unfortunately even if Leeds were to equal the points tally, by winning their remaining games, they would be hard pushed to move more than a couple of places. If only we had beaten Brighton!

With three games left, we are only seven points away from League Champions Liverpool. I dare say Messrs Orta and Bielsa have already identified their Summer targets, but what should be their aim? Consolidation or pushing to the next level?

However you look at it, we are only 13 points away from a Champions League place, or 15 points/ 5 wins from 3rd place. If we hadn't conceded the most penalties in the top flight (10) imagine where we could be now?

    McCoist in love with Leeds

Former Rangers and Scotland legend Ally McCoist has declared his love to Leeds Utd and the way they play. He also revealed that he would be gutted if the Argentine left the hot seat at Elland Road. The conversation came about whilst discussing the vacancy at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and the 65yo's name came up.

“If you’re Spurs, you clearly want to get the best available,” “Two of the best available would be Brendan Rodgers and indeed, Bielsa. I would be gutted if Bielsa left Leeds because I love the job he’s doing.

“I love Leeds, I love the way they’ve played the game this season, the way they’ve entertained us, they’ve been a great watch.”

Former England legends hail Leeds winger

Former England legends Rio Ferdinand and Glen Hoddle have lorded Leeds winger Jack Harrison's performances this season, and believe the 24yo will only get better. The BT Sports pundits were discussing his display following Leeds mauling of Spurs last Saturday.

Ferdinand, who has has not been shy this season to jump on the Leeds bandwagon said:-

"He scored against Liverpool at Anfield earlier in the season and he has just continued in that vein of form.
"As a wide player he is comfortable coming inside and playing off both feet. "He never stands still this kid, he is always on the move and his energy levels are through the roof.

"I just love his desire. I think all of the players in a Leeds shirt on Saturday showed it but the way he plays, he is direct and if you are a full back playing against him you are not going to get a rest at all. "When you have got the ball, he is in your face and then when he receives the ball he is about getting to the byline and creating opportunities. I thought he was the most dangerous player."

"And then it's about obviously decision making. "When you are a wide player you have got to make the right decisions and critical times and at the moment he is getting it right more often than not."

Former England Boss Glen Hoddle added

"The great asset he has got is he has got two feet. "He's got a right foot and a left foot and it doesn't matter if he is on the right side or the left side but if he is on the left side he can come back on his right. "He has got options there. He's got pace and he has got a turn of pace, that's the difference.

"Some players have got pace but this kid has got something where he can go slow and then turn into something really quickly and that catches defenders out." "I think so. I think he is only going to get better. "He's got talent and if you have got talent you can see where it can go in the next two or three or four seasons.

"He is going to be a top player him because he can play one and two touch and that is the sign of an astute player, a good player. "If he can run with the ball as well and beat players that is an added bonus. He's got both strings to his bow."

Is it about time Leeds signed Harrison permanently from Citeh? Surely, 10-12m is a steal?

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

consolidation means standing still and we already know from Radz that we have higher ambitions, so pointless question really as we will be buying some top players to improve the squad. We will also (I hope) not be as unlucky with injuries and suspensions next season. We have hardly seen Llorente, Rodrigo and Koch, we have missed Phillips and Cooper on at least 2 separate periods as well as Raphinha. So having all these players fit and available means better results. We are vulnerable at LB and have been struggling to cover for Phillips and Rodrigo, so expecting big things in those positions and I also expect a new winger who can do on the left what Raphinha does on the right.

Reading the bollox from Spit the scouse and Gary Neville and it is bollox, I will show you a different story in this weeks weekend debate

Look forward to that then Doc, the scouser should not be on tv, Was starting to take to Neville due to him stating facts, until he supports the scouse and kept him his job after the spitting incident.

Yes I have heard that too, let’s not get too ambitious at this stage, push on yes but Europe ...... maybe not, seen teams get carried away with teams punching above there weight, eg Wolves, and the next one is going to be West Ham.
Europe means 20 plus squad and Amigo isn’t in for that, he likes continuity so I am undecided.
West Ham could be a good bet to be around the relegation area and Moyes sacked (hopefully) next season.

We will push to the end I don't think Bielsa will settle for anything else.
there is big money to have for every league position. I'm sure it's around the 2m mark. Realistically We are going to finish 9th 10th or 11th.
You see when everyone is fit the young lads go out the team so I'm not expecting any of them featuring this season in cameo's.
I think the only cameo's we will see is in our last home game against West Brom
we will say goodbye to Berardi and Pablo Infront of some lucky fans I know for a fact it won't be me as I'm unlucky. if I had a bet in a 2 horse race by horse would get boxed in on the rail lol. 2 great servants of the club. I'm a grown man so best to stay away saying goodbye would bring a tear or two :emoticon-0106-cryin at least I can bubble like a bairn in the comfort of my own home lol.

    Morning all,

We have to push on next season and I see no reason why not. Season on season under Bielsa the club has improved, the players have improved and our position has improved.

I fully expect this seasons new signing to improve again for a full year under El Loco. The likes of Harrison, Meslier and dare I say Roberts will be better for their first year in the Prem and then we will be bringing in new players again in the summer to improve the areas that need it.

I see very little reason we should not be pushing for Europe next season and would be very disappointed if we did not go for a good run in either of the cups. Onwards & upwards MOT.

    Morning all...

Bielsa is a reasonable guy, listen to his requirements and find him those players and just enjoy where it takes us. I’ll be honest, I’d be happy with 10th again next season, you can’t make up the ground on those at the top in just one season. I’m hoping when we’re ready to push on to the next level at least a couple of the U23s will be looking top class.

For me I want to enjoy next season like I enjoyed this one, no expectations to get promoted or win anything, establish ourselves in the PL and lay another foundation or two.

I'd be looking to break into the top six if I'm perfectly honest. We're not that far off the likes of Everton, West Ham etc who'll have the added distraction of European football.

All dependant on Bielsa staying of course, the quality of new signings, the progress of current u23's, and being luckier with injuries.

On a selfish point I hope we can increase capacity. Tickets will be hard to get and because of Covid this is the first season that I've not even got to at least one game. <wah> My first live game was in the 79/80 season and I got over every year since, till now.:(
