I have been saying ever since the 'Arry to England thing first came up that I would take Moyes. I think what he has acheived with virtually no money to spend over a sustained period has been exceptional, he is surely within our price range as well. However, since Ancelotti threw his metaphorical hat in the ring a week or two ago I think this would make more sense. As some of the previous posts say, he has far more experience in the CL and of managing a club in league/cl at the same time, also agree he would have more pull in terms of bringing in a higher quality of player. O'Neill would do job for us and I think he has done well most clubs he has been at, given money to spend I think he could be successful. No to Benitez, **** no to Coyle, although Jurgen is a legend I don't think he would be successfull, he has very limited experience as a coach and with Germany he was just a figure head, not really involved in the training or tactical side of it. Ancelotti, if not, Moyes.
FuQ then Yeah Beckford was never going to be a great signing but they got him free and sold him for £2.5mill the nest season and Everton need all the money they can get. Most people seem to be saying Ancelloti is first choice and Moyes second. Is Glurgen third choice or are we split regarding that? I'd probably prefer Hughes, my biggest reservation is that if he does well he'll probably end up at United.
Ancelotti and Moyes are the only really genuine options, Hod has been out of the game to long and also has some weird views and Jurgen has done nothing to make anybody think he will be a good manager. Moyes for me as he has the only one who has proven that he can work with financial restraints and we do have them at Spurs our wage cap for a start.
You'd also expect us to have a period of restricted spending if any of the stadium plans go through, too.
My main reservation with Moyes is that while we all think he's done a good job with restraints, no other top club has considered him so far, why?. His name will not attract top players like Ancellotti (or similar calibre) would either imo. If thats you Grand . Schteff - not sure on Jurgen either, just doesn't seem to be taking management seriously.
Who else would really count as a step up from Everton, Notso? Chelsea are going for glamorous foreign coaches, Man Utd and Arsenal haven't been after a new manager for a long time and Liverpool are out of the question.
Glenn Hoddle with Jurgen as assistant?! OMG - Please no. Now we're a proper football club with serious ambitions the time of sentimental appointments is well and truly past us. Wonderful, fantastic player though he was for us Hoddle is a bit of a fool, a disaster as a man-manager (thought that playing Kenny G in his office would soften the blow when he told Gazza he wasn't going to the World Cup, apparently wanted to be the best player in training all the time...) and has achieved nothing of great note as a manager. Jurgen even less so. I have no idea who it should be. Hopefully someone I've never heard of cos the ones I have heard of either won't happen or are not at all exciting.
On the plus side he could teach Rafa to do a Klinsmann dive to celebrate rather than risking bookings running into the crowd
"Who else would really count as a step up from Everton, Notso?" Man City not interested after Hughes, pre Mike Ashley even Toon, Chelsea as you say appear to like foriegn managers, could quite simply be they feel no English/British are good enough, and I agree with that. "On the plus side he could teach Rafa to do a Klinsmann dive to celebrate rather than risking bookings running into the crowd " ...on the downside that manouvere seems perfect for another Rafa injury...Modric will have to watch his nose doesn't dig in! "Could we afford the players Ancellotti would want? " At this point in time, hard to say, I believe money is there for a few high earners, but thats another thread in itself perhaps.
I put in another post that Moyes was my 1st choice and also he is within our price range. You are right Ancellotti would i think be out of our price range.
Tbh, they've all earnt enough money for the rest of their life anyway, unlike players, managers tend to like the challenge more than the wage packet. CA doesn't seem a mercenary type to me, might be wrong, but he hasn't run off to Anzhi yet.
Err...no. (Despite never having met the man or having any idea what his thoughts are on almost everything I think I can speak for Danial Levy on this matter with a bizarre level of certainty).
YES Ancelotti Hiddink (unlikely as hell, but...) Guardiola (...not as unlikely as him...) Del Bosque (...or him) Dick Advocaat MAYBE Moyes Deschamps Raddy Antic Bilic (well, there would be continuity for a chunk of our squad...) NO Hoddle Coyle McClaren Ramos Benitez Maradona
