They were the first 'monied' club and have had their manicured fingers all over the FL, FA and PL ever since.
Its a load of horseshit, its just some term they've created and the media have regurgitated for them. It just highlights the sense of entitlement. Its a mental thing too. Tell people something often enough, eventually they accept it. It all centres around gaining a competitive edge and un-leveling the playing field. Its monopolising at its best and is centred around non competition. Its nothing new. Similar to what Bill Gates did with Microsoft. If you take the competition out of the equation, life is so much easier and financially rewarding. Some of these clubs built their reputation by sporting achievements - winning leagues, cups, or representing the country on the continent. These owners and others before them have simply monetised that and to keep the gravy train rolling they need to keep the minions in check.
