No though it is an indication that KPR is so wide of the mark when he says that Chelsea don't have a global following and Liverpool do.

Tbh I think a few of the players at Chelsea don't like Torres.

He is a bit aloof; hence Carra etc did not really like him at Pool.

Torres has sold £22m of shirts at Chelsea: more than all the other Chelsea players combined despite his lousy form: hence the overpriced transfer fee.

Bizarrely he is the best selling Prem shirt still. Imagine how many he will say in the US, who only buy shirts of winners (they aren't nostalgic, that is a very British trait).

Oh dear, 'clown shoes' is back talking rubbish.

I assure you Chelsea fans do want Torres in the team and AVB has picked him for every league game available.

As for Suarez, don't get me started on that world cup cheat.

Have you seen him play this season?

I wouldn't expect you to have to be fair, but if you had you would see the difference.

Someone mentioned facts earlier in the thread, could you please post yours or at least a source?

'I can remember Standard Chartered saying a few months back that Liverpool sold a player that had the ''wow factor'' but was losing his sparkle amongst fans. In other words that ''wow factor'' was decreasing. They also said that Liverpool did something clever in signing Luis Suarez that they signed a player with an equal ''wow factor'' and on his new stage would increase that further. '

Could you provide evidence of this?

I've seen him play alright. Two years ago, the confident and firing Fernando Torres would have buried that sitter he missed at Mould Trafford. Man United signed an ex Liverpool striker with shagged hamstrings, the only difference was they didn't pay £50 million for him. Torres is finished, Liverpool got the best years out of him and made a £30 million profit.

I wasn't refering just to shirt sales. Some of the comments are correct, that fans across the globe buy merchandise with the current ''star'' on it. Thats why Liverpool are making a fortune on Luis Suarez, he has the ''wow factor''. Okay he has a few misdeamours, however he compensates for that with his blistering skill.
If I had a choice for a ''face'' for my club, It would definitely be Luis Suarez over a balding fat prostitute shagging thug (Rooney) and a fat ''One trick pony'' (Lampard).

Come off it. A chelsea fan saying we've wasted money? Carrol and Henderson have done more for us so far than Torres has for you and their combined cost is 51.5 million, so not much more than Torres. I thought Torres would kick on this season and really get his head back in the game but he still looks completely off the pace and I find it hard to believe he will ever hit the same level of form that he did a year or so ago that lead to you paying such a large sum of money.

But are half the Torres shirt sales from his time at Liverpool?? Who knows. It would be helpful if it actually said something about that, also Suarez has only been at Liverpool since January, so what's going on with that?? Are they counting his shirts from Ajax or not?!?

Can we have an adult conversation here?

The question is not really how many shirts, who's names on it, who sold more seats but how are ALL of our clubs going to secure their future income streams and what are the true consequences of how they go about it.

Even Everton can claim a global following for goodness sake!

TV rights is only one area of income but a very important one to all of our clubs.

Come back when Suarez has achieved half of what Rooney and Lampard have (and they did this without being a cheat on the worlds biggest stage).

I know I'm going to regret going back to the mundane after what I said above but:

What exactly have Rooney and Lampard done on the biggest (by that I assume you mean international) stage?

I have no idea to be honest - they say global sales so I assume it includes Torres at Liverpool and Suarez at Ajax. Will be interesting to see who tops the list this season, and if Suarez will be ahead of Gerrard at Liverpool.
