We have a few options at the end of the season, maybe we could keep Gerrard, then theres Ayala or Hobbs who could be available. When the management team is picking up players like Chester I don't think we need to worry too much even if Gerrard doesn't come back.

£1.5 million is a lot of money for a centre half in this league so it would have to be weighd up with other options.
as much as I would like to get ayala back I dont like the idea of two players playing centre half who are under 21 you need at least one with some experience.

The reason Gerrard always plays down the chance of moving to city is because if Cardiff go up he will get a huge wage rise. He might never play for them in the PL but you can't blame him for sitting out a massive contract rather than playing every week for us on much much less.

The thing is if the management at Cardiff don't fancy him at Championship level thy're hardly likely to stick him in the team if they go up. Their loss as far as Im concerned, for me he's a massive reason why we're doing well.
A solid, experienced no nonsense centre half who actually defends properly.

I really do hope we sign him on a permanant at the end of the season but if what has been said is true and he has a clause which will see him get a massive pay rise should Cardiff go up you can't blame him for leaving his options open.

Olly has to be worth £1.5m then so I would try and go for a straight swap.

Oli in normal circumstance may be worth similar, however considering his considerable wages that he is on i doubt it. He has also had massive dips in form to during the season. So i am unsure if they will sign him if they go up to the PL. However 1.5M is an awful lot if you said 1M, i would get it signed now. But we have to remember last time we kept paying out, people seem to think we should be spending millions i wouldn't be surprised if thats all we spent in the summer on all players. There is some quality as free transfers coming up.

Delaney back to Hull as back up? He's free in the summer.....

I thought that about Delaney but maybe if we sign Hobbs and Gerrard permanently we won't need him, but he's a very good championship player.

Some good comments above guys. Gerrard is deffo keeping his cards close to his chest as regards to his future. But, as has already been posted, can you honestly see Cardiff playing him in the PL if they don't think he is good enough for them in the Championship? Hobbs to City early this week may make him (Gerrard) view things differently. At £1.5m though, I think he is a good investment if he can decide which side is bread is buttered.

James Richard Bullard off the wage bill would seem to be the way forward.
I have a sneaky suspicion that soon he will be no longer with us.
He will probably leave in the next transfer window.
Thanks for the memories Mr Bullard.

If this turns out to be the case, all things are then possible.
    Onwards and upwards.

I'd offer a swop deal with Oliwhatsisiface with a couple of million coming our way as payback for the substidised wages we have been paying.

True, but if they do go up (which i think is best for us) i doubt he'll be part of their plans as he's had no hand in getting them there, and surely they'll be looking for prem standard players then aswell? I'd happy pay 1.5m for him, he gets the job done and he never makes me feel nervous.

If he wanted to come and that was the fee then it would happen. 1.5 Million for a player like Gerrard is within our reach again. Especially when you think of the summer offloads on high wages.

I have to agree with an earlier poster, read his twitter feed and sometimes his comments in interviews, I think his heart lies in cardiff. I'd love to see him join u's but I'm not sure it's gonna happen. We have seen how quick Pearson moves to snap up loan signings who do well. Gerrards deal has never been mentioned yet :-( I guess it all depends on how much Cardiff want oilyvagina

AP quoted this week that we do want Gerrard but he has 2 years to go on his Cardiff contract and if the go into the Prem his contract is worth a lot of money. The guy is just staying polite all round re both clubs and his future.

You can not say he is giving everything and been successful here. So its win win all round regardless this season.
