Now sort out all the playing contracts for all these lads that have grafted to get us back up. Don’t let another **** show happen. Well done McCann, you have delivered what I wanted and last season’s utter **** show is forgiven.

Possibly why so few opposition players score against us. Good reason to keep him in the side.

That referee from the Lincoln game was given a Championship game a few weeks ago, so he might be getting promoted with us

I agree, I thought the ref overall was good. I thought there was a marked difference between today's ref and the ones we have had most of the season. Yes, he got a couple of decisions wrong, but as you say that's football and you expect that to happen in a game.

Me too. According to Burnsey there have only been 4 in the entire history of the club, and we have been lucky enough to witness 2 of them.

Firstly, huge congratulations to Grant McCann, his coaching staff, and the whole squad on winning promotion and taking the league title to boot. It should not be underestimated what a wonderful achievement that is.

The game, which I thought was very entertaining, and IMO even though he may have got a couple of decisions wrong, the Referee was a class above what you normally get in Div 1.

Wigan does look a better side than their league position shows, and next term I'm sure they will be pushing more at the top end rather than the bottom.

Wigan looked lively the first quarter of the game, but once we go the 2nd goal, barring one or two skirmishes in our box we did look in control of the game.

KLP is turning into some player, his movement and control is, on the whole, better than Wilk's, but in his own way, Wilk's is effective just his decision-making at times needs to improve. Magennis has really gone up in my estimation and deserves a crack at the Championship.

Docherty is a machine, and his energy is limitless, I'm really looking forward to both KLP and him in the Championship as I think they will both flourish there.

I think this back 4 with Burke or Jones is good enough for the Championship, and Ingram has impressed this season, in addition, his distribution is better than Longs.

What a difference Regan Slater made coming on for Smallwood, he really has grown into that role, and I would certainly try to get him permanently, but fear he may well be in the Blunts plans for next season.

As far as Alfie Jones, he should be the first choice next season in the defensive midfield role, or Slater if we did manage to sign him, Smallwood as a backup?

Finally, George, what a player he has been this season and also the heartbeat of this game and others. Again, looking forward to him in the championship, as I am sure his confidence now will lead to good performances next term.

Well done City, let's hope we can win the last game and finish the season off in style.

Excellent summary John. I agree with all of that.

I would just like to add our two full backs...Callum Elder, who has been excellent all season, and thoroughly justified his selection on the League team of the year with his attacking flair, and Lewie Coyle who has been outstanding since taking over the RB role from the also very good Emmanuel and the Captaincy from Smallwood. These two and our brilliant mid-field pair of Honeyman and Docherty have been hugely important in creating the goal scoring opportunities for our prolific forward trio.

We have gone from strength to strength since the Ipswich game as evidenced by our 14/15 game unbeaten streak to end the season (if we win at Charlton next Saturday). I too hope we are able to sign Slater as he is a very promising young (21) player, and also Whyte. I cannot see Eaves being retained if we sign a new striker to complement Magennis, whose leadership qualities and goal scoring record in recent months fully justify his retention. Scott however has shown nothing to be retained and Crowleys loan will end.

Overall I think our back 5, with Ingram and Burke and Alfie Jones and the rapidly improving young future star Jacob Greaves will continue to do well in the Championship, our mid-field is excellent, and the Forwards with a couple of additions to complement KLP, Magennis, and the enigmatic Wilks, should continue to score goals aplenty.

With Grant, Byrne, and Pennock in charge of Coaching, we should be well set for another good season in the Championship. A mid-table position should be well within our capabilities. Good luck Lads. I can't wait for the Season to start. Hopefully with 20,000+ fans back in the stands !!!!!

    Good post.

It’ll be interesting to see who McCann brings in...and who we let go.
