Whoever happens to be the most in-form striker at the time I guess. There are probably 10 different names you could give right now.

Any chance of Terry, Cole, Lampard and Ferdinand doing something similar, and getting some 3 match bans of their own? I do hope so.

Why would you want Cole to get banned? He's our best player.

I'd go for Sturridge or Welbeck personally, not sure how they would play together but it can't be any worse than what I've seen from England lately

Lol. That was the first name that escaped my mouth aloud, as a response to reading the title. He could be a coach to England players on how to score goals from open play, take free kicks and penalties..! ;)

Seriously though, if Rickie was Scottish, Welsh or Irish, he'd be capped by now.

I agree. Lambert is a more complete player and better than someone like Heskey was even when he was in his prime. Unfortunately the only striker I remember being picked for England from the championship (old division two) was Steve Bull!

If he was in-form, I'd choose Andy Carroll. Very good all round player with pace, power and technical ability. Right now though, I'd choose Sturridge as he's in form and scoring goals.

It's not right to choose out of form players, but no doubt we'll see the same old tripe that's failed us before.

At last I have found something I agree with Joey B about - it has to be Rickie!

He needs to be replaced with Lennie Small from the novel Of Mice and Men.

Lallana to replace Rooney with one of the above in front of him :) Failing that Gerard could play that 'link' role

Is the Orangutan from the Clint Eastwood film "every which way but loose" still alive? If so we should pick him. He would match Rooneys passport photo so could travel on the plane, and would probably have better manners. Also with a bunch of banannas as a "win bonus" it would save the FA money which they could throw at another useless foreign coach. (PS no bitterness here then)

It has to be Lambert but Capello will choose some overpaid overrated player who struggles to get picked for his league side ahead of an equally overpaid and overrated foreigner.
