Won 3 trophies including a European one but you prefer the entertaining but ultimately barren years of Redknapp and Poch?

Surprised nobody's linked us with Joachim Lowe

Would it be because people forgot he exists, or is it because they remember what happened the last time we hired a former international coach who announced they were stepping down before a Euros?

Says the guy who wanted Jose out from minute one but then decides he wants the guy like Jose but a level below him to replace him <rofl>

    NOBODY MOVE

Christian Falk of Bild reports that Ralf Rangnick has been offered the job

Falk's usually a good source for Bundesliga stuff (i.e. not some Patreon-pushing fraud like Romano)

I was just in the process of tagging you saying I hope you got your vote in for Rangnick as he’s rumoured to have been offered the job <laugh>

I just hope the rest of the shortlist doesn't read as follows
    Gerhard Struber
    Vinicus Munhoz
    Mauricio Barbieri
    Sipke Hulshoff
    Matthias Jaissle

Wouldn’t be a bad first tweet back after the blackout this weekend if it’s the announcement would it...

Don't know very much about Rangnick...always thought he was more involved in the technical director/DoF side of things?

Current managers don't want anything to do with us, so we're going down the "former manager, now DoF" route to see if they fancy stepping back into management.

Gotta admire Levy's persistence after all the rejections.

Yes. Because we were a better team under Poch and Redknapp and only came up short due to others flouting the rules. Getting runners up medals in the CL is a bigger achievement than 3 FA cups so I don't regard them as barren years. Of the 1980s teams only Hoddle and Ardiles would have got into Pochettino's best XI.

His time at Monster Energy Dusseldorf breaks down like this
June 2012: came in, appointed Alex Zorninger
July 2015: stepped in as manager after Zorninger and, later, Achim Biererlorzer were sacked
July 2016: recommended Ralph Hassenhuttl and moved back upstairs
July 2018: stepped in as manager after Hassenhuttl was sacked
July 2019: recommended Julian Nagelsmann and moved back upstairs

To be honest, that sounds like something that could work: he spends his first season on the deck creating the team he wants, then appoints a successor to take that team forward while he moves upstairs to handle scouting and player acquisition to maintain the team

He is to Klopp as Bielsa is to Pochettino, but then he was brought in to run the whole Red Bull group of clubs.
Credited for the move towards gegenpressing in Germany, mainly with Hoffenheim.
Has a big thing about developing youth players in order to challenge traditionally more successful and richer sides.
Nearly joined Milan last summer, but wanted more control than they were willing to give him, apparently.

No other Top 20 club would go anywhere near appointing him...

....and that's all you need to know. Apart from the fact that he allegedly didn't get the Milan job because he wanted 'Complete Control' - that should be a short discussion with Levy. <laugh>

Offered a contract until the end of the season and felt he'd lack authority as a dead man walking.

Big clubs don't hand out 'Complete Control' anymore. Montesquieu had a point.

Maybe Levy's looking to bring him in with Hasenhuttl, who will probably be out of work pretty soon? <whistle>
They worked together at Lawnballsports of East Germany.
