Well ****... Ten Hag’s signed a new contract with Ajax. People really are avoiding us! Guess that “official meeting” went well then
I’ve now changed my vote YET AGAIN. Potter for me now. He’s been my second choice to both Nagelsmann and ten Hag so maybe it’s a sign I’m just meant to be fully on board with him. All aboard the Potter train!
I never really considered ten Hag a target until we were linked. So Potter was my second choice to Nagelsmann and then when Nagelsmann agreed to take over Bayern and we got linked with ten Hag, ten Hag immediately jumped the queue over Potter. So Potter’s been second choice to both Nagelsmann and ten Hag. There is a logic to my madness... somewhere
The ‘suitable’ names get smaller and smaller Allegri or Benitez the only realistic names left for me now.
I wanted Allegri when we sacked Poch as I thought he’d have been good to try and get those on their last legs over the line, that’s also what I thought Jose could’ve done but ultimately too many in the squad are lost causes and Jose himself just made too many gaffs. We need a rebuild now and Allegri isn’t really known for that so not sure he’d be the best candidate. I doubt he’d want this sort of job either. He’ll want a title challenger, possibly even a return to Juve seeing as Pirlo looks out of his depth. Benitez just a massive no from me. Fans didn’t like Jose’s football, they won’t be any happier with Benitez’s.
He seems adamant that we're the ones who took a step back after the meeting. Wouldn't be surprised if ten Hag wanted more or less full control of transfers and Levy was like "quit playin'!".
I particularly think either of them would be ideal but I can’t buy into appointing a project manager like Potter etc. Appoint one of them on a deal until the end of next season and then go from there
In other words: "I'm winning stuff here, playing good football and enjoying solid control over the team. Not sure I fancy taking over Spurs and seeing Sissoko run like a headless chicken, Winks pass it backwards, Dele take more interest in his hairstyles than football or Aurier give away needless fouls, all whilst finishing 7th and being told I only have the finances to sign Joelinton on loan."
