They aren't all out for cash mind.

Of those who have become PM in recent years, only Major, whose talents were invisible if they existed at all, and Brown would probably have struggled to match their earnings outside politics.

You're right about many backbenchers mind.
I agree with the " lifelong " support thing. It's not like your team.

I've voted in the past, for Labour, Tory, Liberal, Ukip, Brexit Party, and once for The Official Monster Raving Loony Party.

This last in honour of his Lord Such's one brilliant contribution to a small debate he wangled himself onto. When at last he was asked for his contribution about some problem or other he pronounced, " Simple... repatriate the Normans!".

You really just cannot beat that.

It is certainly true that the Labour Party is propped up by the Unions, which is why much of their policy and many of their internal appointments are made against the wishes of the various leaders they have had.

But the Labour Party do not now represent the working man at all. Indeed they loathe the views most commonly held by this group, myself among them ; self reliance, patriotism, pride in their country and much else.

These and other values are anathema to the likes of Sir Kier Starmer, ( we know this from his public utterances when he could say what he meant), and most of the Labour front bench, never mind its far left activist base.

Labour will win the cities. They appeal to the self regarding Bien Pensant of the middle class, political left. But, apart from students, that's about it. They will be eviscerated unless they change.

Much of Conservative thinking is based on hard work and self reliance, which I was brought up to believe were working class values.
That may have been the case in the 1920s but it certainly isn't now and hasn't been for a long time.

Political thinking is changing in this country, it'll take Labour out of the game first but then we'll be after the Tories. They'll evolve or die.

Zero hours contracts existed under the Labour government. How does that make it the Conservatives fault? And what do you mean "well done"? What do I deserve? I'm not a Conservative if that's what you're implying, I'm just open minded. I think more people should approach politics that way. "Supporting" a particular party makes no sense.

But they are not elected by the people of the Uk to represent them and therefore not members of parliment and have said "parlimentary standards". Also they are not then beholden to someone when they have access to creating laws of this land so totally irrelevant. Howay man ffs

I blame the sun or news international or jeremy corbyn or ed miliband (cause he couldn't eat a bacon sarnie) or michael foot (cause he was scruffier than Johnson) or Neil Kinnock etc
