Arsene Wenger's comments on a European Super League.

Arsene Wenger has warned that Europe dreams of destroying the Premier League and revealed his shock at how the English clubs, including Arsenal, were drawn into the disastrous Super League plan.

"It was born dead," Wenger said, From the start, I couldn't believe it will work". The most surprising in all that was the English behaviour.

Everybody dreams to destroy the Premier League in Europe. In England we do it ourselves.

I can't understand the rationality behind that because England voted for Brexit and now they want to bring a Super League. The English has the strongest league....the Super League would destroy, 100% the Premier League.

This is part of a longer article by Wenger in today's....Daily Telegraph Sport.....Saturday...24/04/2021.

This is an interesting article.....how he thinks that European football is trying to break up the dominance of the Premier League.

The owners of Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea & Arsenal of course are all foreigners and it is the bottom line MONEY that dominates their thinking.

I would have hoped that if these clubs had British owners that they would have seen the main reason for starting a European Super League and that was to takeaway the dominance of the Premier League over European Leagues. But of course that might be wishful thinking on my behalf.

It seems that Barcelona and Real Madrid are in dire straits financially and need more cash. They should consult Mr Micawber, as should all football clubs.

More matches equals more betting in the Asian market place. Hence more money being dangled in front of these clubs as no other league would be viable. Look at the shirt motiffs on a number of clubs and they are betting sponsored. I'll wager (pun intended) that a lot of us have never heard of some of these betting firms.

My son said today that Barcelona are in excess of 2 billion Euros in debt. They aren't the only ones to owe vast amounts which probably they could not pay ever. Fair play rules do not exist. When Barcelona had a transfer embargo a couple of years ago they paid off the contracts of players they wanted and signed them as free agents. What is the difference between that and a transfer fee being paid. None in my book but FIFA allowed it. I don't think it has a lot to do with destroying the premier league but I can see where it has everything to do with gambling and creating larger revenues for those companies.

Looked up the clubs playing staff to see who might be staying or going...( in my view).....website out of date....and not too much info on players anyway.....rather disappointing for a club that is trying to look forward thinking.

With Argyle nearly nudging 80 goals against this season....we have Ryan Lowe telling us that his No1 priority next season is defence....with at least four of this years defence.....Opoku, Watts, Lewis & Woods....loanees...that would be a top priority anyway....but with the green army telling him all season that we needed stiffening up at the back...maybe the penny has dropped.

Lowe has also mentioned that he needs more character, maturity and leaders in his team (especially in defence).....blimey is there an echo around here....another point put over continually by the green army.

Maybe we don't need a manager....but a committee of the green army....might solve this echo that keeps going around the Home Park ground.

It's clear some mistakes were made.

On the other hand, we've recruited Camara (who I have some doubts about but you don't), Hardie and Ennis. Cooper, Jephcott and now Ryan Law have come through the ranks to the first team. In my opinion, Adam Randell has more potential than any of those three. We have George Cooper and Lewis McLeod to come back from injury.

As we keep telling you, on our day we are playing really good, progressive football going forward.

Lessons have been learned, we're staying up, so let's try and look on the bright side now shall we?

How dull life would be, if we all have the same opinion....clones of each other comes to mind.

I found it disappointing how Lowe accepted the 3-1 defeat at Oxford with rather a pleasing attitude.....okay more effort was noticeable from the team....but Oxford aren't world beaters....and will probably not be promoted through the play-off route....a point of view other than your own should be treated with a little respect even though you don't agree with it.

Also Charlton are not a 6-0 side...they quite often find goals hard to come by...and their success this season is through their defensive ability... although at times even that lets them down... mainly at home......they looked great scoring six away from home ... but soon fell to earth against Peterborough last Saturday...who with Hull deserve automatic promotion.....Charlton just went through the motions against us without any scintillating breathtaking play.....we did the rest for them....and for Lowe to feel pleased that we cut 6 down to 3 seems to me a defeatist attitude.

So your opinion is fine....I have no problem with that....but there are other points of view and mine is amongst them....evens up opinion....others can decide which opinion suits them.

Just repeating pasoti comments is not exactly an opinion of your own plym. Probably we all read pasoti at one time or another. A little bit of green tintedness is not a crime you know. The problem I have with most Argyle supporters is they don't support as often as they should. Criticise yes but support no. It's obvious what the shortcomings have been this season without rubbing them in at every opportunity. I often find the worst ones for the criticism are those that don't get to go to the ground that often. The football this season has been a thousand times better than previous to watch and it was when the ground was open. I would rather watch Argyle get relegated and play the way they try than see turgid stuff put out week in week out that bores the tits off people. I don't care what team Charlton are it is not relevant to us. If you want perfection go support some godly team but don't expect it at Home Park. You can read it on pasoti daily. Drip drip drip drip. We are not a premiership side. Get over it or find one to support in our place.

I've watched as much football this season as you...so please get off your pasoti theme about me.....wearing rather thin that old chestnut......I know it's difficult for you to understand but there are other views than yours....just try to realize your view is your view and not anymore than that....other people are allowed a view and it being trashed by you just means nothing other than you have no respect for other people who don't agree with you.

Have a view by all means and I have no problem with that. But, I read pasoti and your comments are almost a cut and paste of the ones being voiced on there. I have a problem generally with people who expect Barcelona rather than Plymouth Argyle. We are a league one club and have never been more than a second tier club in our history. What the feck do you expect Argyle to play like? I have little respect for people who simply criticise at every turn and offer nothing else. It seems to be the Argyle supposed supporters way. We got promoted to league one on a shoe string. We only ever expected to try to stay in the league this season. We achieved that. This was through an unprecedented season in football history. So, all we can do is kick the club????? To be honest it's supporters like that we could do without. It's my opinion yes but it's sincerely held and if that upsets you well tough to be honest. I get sick of whinging people and your posts seem to typify the worst of Argyle supports in it's loosest terms. I'll give you respect when you come out with something original rather than the normal crap spouted elsewhere. And as an aside to that be as blunt as you like I am not that much of a shrinking violet to get upset.

I'm not a keyboard warrior BC. I say nothing on here or anywhere else that I wouldn't say at a picnic in person. Bring on the sarnies and cupcakes and I'll be there.

Apparently Adam Randell had a stellar game in midfield for Torquay in their victory over Aldershot. Gulls fans all over him on Twitter.

The club have appointed a specialist company to handle their streaming, including I think the video that appears on the website as well as match coverage. There's an announcement on the website.

Whether that's just for the production of ghe video or the streaming of matches to us I'm not clear.

Usually the leagues sell rights to show matches for all their clubs rather than each club doing something different. That's a bone of contention with the likes of Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea et al who think they could get more money if they weren't bundled up with Sheffield United and Fulham.

So I'm not clear if we seen the end of IFollow on matchedays although they may no longer infest the website.

    PS

I noticed that at Oxford, there was an audio preview of the game, from the Oxford point of view, whilst the teams were warming up. Usually we get silence or the IFollow adverts. If that's something Oxford do themselves, then it's an area where Argyle can unilaterally improve coverage by providing their own commentary before, during and after the game.

Specialists could also manage the 4 cameras inside Home Park. We are one of only two clubs in League 1 to have 4 cameras and perhaps more could be made of them if they were operated by a professional TV crew who come in just on matchdays.

The article talks about "a cutting-edge website and Argyle app for iOS and Android users". Presumably that means cutting IFollow out of non matchday stuff and tying it in more directly to Argyle's sponsors and advertisers rather than IFollow sitting in between, so increasing the club's income.
