I am as guilty as anyone of wanting McCann gone in the aftermath of last season. Credit to him and the Lads, they've done a great job but I still need convincing that he's the man for next season. For now I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Show me where I said we'd be relegated this season, Chazz. Promotion is a big and welcome surprise to me, but I don't think I ever said we'd be relegated... Unless I was pissed anyway <cheers>

No I thought we'd finish mid table.

Now let me tell you what pisses me off. Its people saying some fans wanted us to be relegated. That's ****ing ridiculous.

I though McCann was going to fail us, everyone must have had their doubts, it is perfectly natural to have those doubts after a crap season.

Now my only thought is how he must have felt on Saturday and how much this promotion will mean to him and his family.

Grant McCann, he had a plan!

You said it was all a plan by the allams to take us down to non league
No investment and taking all the money out
And you said it repeatedly after any losses

The position we are now in is that we’ve had a superb season, and fans are a bit doubtful about whether the manager and his squad can make the next step up.

Which is exactly the same situation as after every promotion this club has ever achieved. All this harking back to righting wrongs is pointlessly raking up ancient history (and McCann has comprehensively righted them this season anyway).

Next season will be defined a lot more by the owners’ actions than the manager’s. The latter is a safe pair of hands now. The former, well the jury is still out.

For me the jury delivered ages ago with the owners and no chance of a retrial. They are still deliberating on the Manager. He's gone some way to putting right last season's debacle. For me, there's still some evidence to hear, which wont be until the end of next season. We were a mid table championship team when he took over. Nevertheless, great achievement so far.

Anybody who didn't want Terry gone in the aftermath of last season needs to give their good head a shake. The performances and results in the second half of the season were abysmal, in fact downright embarrassing at times! I for one wanted him gone, and felt he was bloody lucky to keep his job, though I'm sure in Ehabs mind his salary decrease played a part.

Now to this season, in the early part I suspect having no supporters in the stadium also helped otherwise I'm sure Terry would have come in for some verbal abuse. Most pundits had us down for mid table which is were I felt would stand at the season end.

To Terrys credit, ably bolstered by a number of astute signings, he's achieved what I wanted him to do before I would lavish any praise, and accept his continued employment by the club. He's done that, so well done Terry, against most peoples odds he's managed to right the wrongs of last season and help turn the club around with a good group of mainly younger players.

So Terry, well done this season, now go and get the title. I'm personally not interested one jot in bickering about who said what, it's unimportant at the moment, lets all just enjoy the prospect of being back in The Championship next season, and fingers crossed being to attend games again!

Just to be fair...we where a mid table team with the arguably 2 best wide players in the league and a squad of players that hadn't thrown in the towel, given up, causing unrest behind the scenes and stopped playing to look after themselfs. I personally think if covid hadn't happened then we would have stayed up ( easy to say with hindsight I know ) the things that went on behind the scenes last season by some players was absolutely shocking and they well and truly stitched both us as fans and the club up big style.

The slate is clean for me. Grant now has his squad, his plan and most importantly no players looking out for themselfs only.

I doubt it, you won't hear it from grant nor will he use it as an excuse and I can guarantee none of the players will admit openly to what they did.

Not much difference, but we were pushing play offs with B and G. Was Kamil that good first half of last season? We should have been good enough to maintain mid table, particularly with some of that money available. Not sure how you think we'd have stayed up without Covid? I'd have thought the crowd would have been more on players backs, so even more disastrous etc.
I'm not sure of the 'things going on'? is that Covid related? Where we any worse than other teams? Is that not evidence that he lost the dressing room? Getting rid of 5 or 6 key players (including capt and V.capt, FFS) at a crucial time was suicidal. How much/little input was McCann allowed in those decisions?
I'm not challenging for the sake of it, I am intrigued what went so badly wrong.
There was a school of thought, and I have read since that he did confirm to Burnsey on RH that the 'Overall Plan' he often talked about was for relegation?
I'm interested, as I was so disillusioned with what happened the end of last season.

He didn't get rid of the captain and the vice captain at the same time, they refused to play. By the way how are they both doing ? Anyone know ?

Weren't they offered ridiculously low contracts to get through to the extended end of season? I know we'd all play for free, but they were uncertain times. An injury then was a massive issue for any footballers coming to the end of their contracts, with predictions of clubs going out of business en masse.
I had heard that actually they weren't offered contracts at all.

Last season finished end of July from memory. Don't contracts end in June?

That's what I thought the issue was. Players were asked to play while out of contract for little or no money.

If they were still under contract, they’d have had no option, they’d have to play.

Do you seriously believe the club expected them to play without pay ?
I'd have thought a captain and vice captain just might have shown some loyalty towards their team mates and the club as it battled against relegation. Maybe put themselves in the shop window perhaps ?
I knew lads who turned out on a Sunday morning three hours after finishing a gruelling night shift to help their team mates out. I've done it myself several times, it was what my team mates expected of me and me of them.
