No but apparently clearing the ball at chest height is dangerous, so surely diving headers are too?

But it wasn’t a diving header. It was a basic header at 6ft up. It was a penalty for me. 100%.

There was no intent but it was just blatantly dangerous. There has been countless penalties given this season, some where there was no contact hardly at all. But against nufc, a kick to the head and it’s not a pen? Come on mate?

Forget that incident which imo is just a defender clearing the ball and Longstaff outing his head there.

I'm simply saying for the reason of discussion only that if a defender isnt allowed to clear the ball because its deemed dangerous then so is a diving header at a low height.

 

It’s dangerous if it hits someone, goes close to hitting someone or makes them back off for fear of being hit. That was.
Kicking that high with no one around isn’t dangerous.
Diving headers are dangerous to yourself so not classed as dangerous play and a kick at head height at someone doing a diving header isn’t punished because you aren’t doing something intentionally dangerous as his head wouldn’t normally be that low.

 

The low height header is different. Your putting your head in a position which is deemed acceptable for a defender to kick the ball. You risk your own head at that height: if it gets kicked. It’s your own fault.

You should be able to challenge a header without the worry of getting your heed kicked off. The worst you should expect is a clash of heads.

 

If they get the ball first then head butt someone id disagree.

I just think there was nothing in that he gets the ball and Longstaff didn't really even get kicked he was fine.

I'm not arguing the rule in saying that's just someone clearing his lines eyes on the ball then Longstaff throws himself in which something he had to do.

The thing is if the defender just doesn't clear that Longstaff scored and if ko gstafg doesn't head it there's no problem.

Both had to go for that and unfortunately the the defender gets the ball so it's no pen for me.

I can't see the ball but that's a dangerous tackle and he can see the player

 

I suggest you watch the video of it. He runs and kicks the ball. He doesn’t change direction and he just naturally follows through.
