Interesting that a lot of the blame is being placed at Johnson's door. He certainly has made mistakes but, as the saying goes, once the players cross that white line, its up to them. I see he's being called arrogant and there are more comments about the terminology he uses being confusing. The terms he uses are nothing out of the ordinary and make complete sense to me, he never uses any terms that I haven't heard people involved in football to a high (ish) level using. The fact that he uses those terms in interviews suggests that he's anything but arrogant- it suggests he believes that Sunderland fans are knowledgeable about football. Disappointing not to win today, but I'm sure we'll make a good go of the playoffs. We'll need the entire squad, not just 11 of them, to be up for it
He isn't arrogant at all imo. All of the stuff he mentions in interviews will be talked about at most clubs, especially the top end. I like him, I'll back him and the current regime. Our poor start under Parky will cost us, not Johnson getting 30 goals out of Wyke and recalling McGeady
Yes he has been very good all season, and so would Dan Neil if he had been given half a chance, they were both brilliant pre season, but like others are continuously overlooked in favour of players whose careers can only go one way It is him picking the team by the way and I assume telling them how he wants them to play, it is him who should be seeing whats going wrong and putting it right , no one else.
Not arrogant for me and I love the fact we have a young progressive manager trying something different. I really think he will come good. Hopefully in the playoffs if not then next season we will see his team not players brought together by other managers That will be the time to really judge him. The one issue I have with him at the moment is that I think he's pushing his ideas too hard to fast with a group of players who aren't all up to it and a dreadful injury list. Trying to run before we can walk if you like. Saying that I've enjoyed the ride and it nearly came off. Bring on the playoffs.
Like Bali Mumba who will be playing premier league football next season, but couldn’t get in our side ahead of George Dobson?
Those 2 you mentioned are exactly why I've hope. If we can get a couple of our central defenders back it'll give me more than hope.
Another 2/10 performance from Josh Scowen again today. What an absolute pile of ****e footballer that man is.
I just can't wait to get back to the SoL regardless of division and see some live football. The summer window will be interesting, I think a few unexpected departures may be on the cards.
Did you manage to think that up all on your own. Hilarious you like. As for going ultra defensive, how come we managed to score again after that? You have to attack to score which suggests you got your analysis wrong. Makes a change.
Well we were 2-1 up when he was brought on, he gave the ball away a few times, picked up a yellow and then we conceded. Of course we attacked when it went to 2-2, but instead of being proactive and going for the kill like we should have been at 2-1 up, we ended up being reactive due to their equaliser, which has been a massive issue of ours since we’ve been in this league.
Agree mate. I am lucky enough to coach lads at academy level. That gives me a chance to see how things work inside clubs. I have not heard LJ say anything that isnt said in so called big clubs. I am getting older so do wonder but it is the game now. I used to listen to Parky and think who would play for him. I know LJ is not everyones cup ot tea, fair enough and I respect all opinions, but for me he is the manager I have most confidence in in a long time. I like him, but he makes mistakes like all of us, but I do look forward to a team of his next year.
Hume did well today, didn't play like someone who's been out for ages and has bugger all fitness and sharpness. I got the impression he's grown up a bit mentally, everything he did was sensible and he made all the right runs. McGeady will be happy he's back.
They were on top so going for three in the middle to try and wrest control of the game back is understandable but hardly ultra defensive. The two subs made after with Diamond and Jones coming on I thought were designed to give us some more attacking impetus and we did manage to regain the lead. Again, not ultra defensive.
One of us will be proven to be right. I am willing to give KLD the chance to back up his words with actions, whereas you are dismissing it before the transfer window has even opened. I believe you're being hasty, and letting your emotion at another capitulation by our team of bottlers get the better of you. The manager has said only this week that mental strength will be a quality he will be looking for in new players. Mental strength is what our current lot are sadly lacking in.
