I'm not entirely sold on the idea of MON being the answer to all our needs. But given the choice of Bruce or MON, I could only ever only pick the latter. As for the point of moving us on with this squad, even Bruce would like to make additions to it. So its unfair to say a new manager would want money for fresh faces when current ones want the same.
If I wanted to return to club management rather than take the reign of my home nation, if I would want to manage in the top tier. If I would want to manage a club with ambitions to progress. If I would to manage a club that remains relatively loyal to its managers. If I would want to manage a club with a great stadium and fan base. If I would want to manage a club with a lot of history. I think we tick a lot of boxes.
I agree we tick those boxes in my mind too. So why doesn't someone like Mourinho, or Benites, or anyone else say "SAFC tick all the boxes. I want that job!" x
I think our biggest problem is a bigger problem than football. We certainly have history as a club. We don't have the bright lights of a London. We were the Team of All Talents and the Bank of England is the wrong era. Nowadays money and success are as good a guarentee for more money and success as anything else. The Mourinhos, Benitezs, Ancelottis etc wouldn't have a clue about this. Fergie does, MON does. Clough claimed he would have crawled over glass (or something to that effect) to manage us. MON doesn't seem like the sort of person who enjoys the more glamorous aspects. Plus, I doubt Clough would have ever had bad word to say about us. MON could do worse than us, and we could do worse than him.
