And that is a great legacy and one that I have and always will give him credit for. But he failed to do the 2nd part of what our owners expected from him and he left a very poor quality squad, a squad whose record has been getting worse as the last 3 years rolled on, they were never consistent under him and they certainly are not consistent now. The vast majority of fans know this.
That is the very thing Nige has done, maintained our Championship status, I call that dam right brilliant considering the baggage he was bequeathed. Hilarious
Why would have LJ walked?....he came in initially to maintain and stabilise us in the championship......which he did. No Irony at all...........of course there is overwhelming support for Pearson..I am one of them...who else out there are we able to turn to?? My view was the same regarding replacing LJ....I had no problem with it, if there was better out there that was available within our budget that would be interested at the time that I thought would progress us further... it never happened..
He might have walked for not being happy with expectation v ambition + quality of players you claim may have been offered to him presumably by Ashton. PS:- That was his brief for the remainder of the season that he first joined us, but please don't pretend that was the brief for the next 4 years, when he was given huge financial support.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56781897 I’m off to see what my mates Bluebaldee and CJS are chatting about
Yes it did you are quite correct, but the quality of this squad is not responsible for that, I seem to recall even with the first 4 wins people were not impressed.
mmm Some people were though.......how LJ wasn't able to set up or format a team like Deaon was at the time.....plenty of them if I recall.... Must admit, on watching the games I could see we were getting the results but now sure how....
For the first full and maybe the 2nd IMO...after that..I admit, we should have progressed better......and might well have done had we not sold off our key players that were starting to gel.....
And I would agree with that, for me our best performances were Stoke away, Middlesborough away, Swansea away and Birmingham away. I think you could easily that Holden had a dead cat bounce as did Pearson, once that honeymoon period was over the true colours of this squad emerged. One thing I noticed on Wednesday night, when Bakinson scored, Wells never celebrated the ball hitting the back of the net, Bakinson and the rest of the team peeled off to the right to celebrate and Wells peeled off to the left and did not look enthused at all, after close to a minute later Wells suddenly appeared with the rest of the team half heartedly celebrating. For me some of this squad put more effort into taking the knee than in their game, a couple of months ago an away game somewhere, the referee blew his whistle and several but not all City players took the knee, none of the opposition had taken the knee and they just kicked off normally. Now I am sure this would have been discussed before the game, for me only a minor matter but if they haven't taken in stuff like that, then they have switched off.
Players he had the last say on we have agreed on that and some for big big money spunked on the likes of Diedhiou and Hunt to name but 2, sorry to say the squad were still totally inconsistent even back then.
We may not even need anything the way today’s results are. Either way, we have regressed significantly in the last 12 months and I won’t be watching this $hite anymore this season!
Almost as good as the annual LJism, after yet another winless run "I will have to select the players, that I can trust" presumably the same players that he could trust when he originally dropped them. It's football mate, even Wenger couldn't get away from talking in footballisms.
just pointing out that all managers do it! LJ was pillared on here for it, yet everyone laps it up from NP!
You are correct, the result of only 1 permanent signing who got injured picking up the pen and several worse than useless loaners none of whom have enhanced an already poor squad, starting the season with our number 1 left back being injured and still allowing his potential stand in to go out on loan, persevering with an old converted midfielder at left back, who subsequently got injured and no replacement brought in in January, no right back worthy of the name and no midfield leader, you couldn't make that up.
I haven't seen that, but hey ho, he can only play the hand he has been dealt and boy it's a pretty crappy hand. All I have seen is the realisation at last that our squad is incredibly weak and poor, that is the view of the vast majority. As long as we don't go down and he is allowed to ship the cords of deadwood and actually replace with quality, judge him next season.
