Apparently a play about Sunderland is getting hit reviews in france - written by a french author who worked for a few months in Nissan Factory and went home and wrote a play about his experiences and it's called "Sunderland". Apparently he thinks it rains so much it feels like you are in a washing machine - beer football and unemployment are the backdrop and the play portrays the north east as everything the parisians are not. One of the characters (Gaven) is described as awkward and unable to express his sentiments except when drunk and the only love he can talk about is Sunderland football club - he is apparently a shock to french audiences. I knew our class would make the cultural headlines somewhere.
To a lesser extent, I think that's our image in the south of England too. Which is one reason why so many top class players don't want to come here. Millionaires - today's footballer - want a bit more style than that. It's a pity but I think it'll take a bit of shifting.
is'nt south of leeds in france, the french can't atlk about ettiquette lol i think they were once voted as the people shower the least lol
Reality has nothing to do with it. It's what people believe that makes the difference. Pie and chips and ten pints of Broon doesn't have the same appeal as a Cordon Bleu table with a couple of glasses of excellent wine. And, when you're trying to attract young millionaires to live here, it ain't easy.
Thierry Henry and Gignac and many top French players will be flocking to the SOL after seeing it, accompanied by a hoard of French tourists, all waving Sacha Distel polaroids...
Not to mention Sunderland has the female gurning champion and the best marathon cheat in the world!!!
The fact they are supposed to be the dirtiest in europe as far as getting showered is true from a survey As for france i love paris its just a pity the ****ing french live there. No doubt they have some great talented footballers they just don't shower after the game lol.
