How come a helicopter needs that shhite to land on? The article claims that they couldn't get patients to hospital because as we saw from the video it tore the landing pad up, but most air ambulance normally just land on grass in some playing field, don't they?
Ah right, see what you mean, the grass could get chewed up over time, especially if it's raining. Maybe they need donations to get a concrete pad laid.
If it lands on grass it'll send dirt, loose grass, stones and anything else flying in all directions including up at the aircraft, it's the same as runways and FOD, has to be a solid base and clear.
