Noticed that James McFadden is currently at Celtic Park with a view to joining them, this would suggest Kris Commons career at Celtic is going to be shorter than he probably hoped for. I really hope this situation has been noted by Leeds as Commons is a decent player who plays left wing or left midfield. I am aware he hasn't played well this season and this has lead to him being dropped by Celtic and Scotland, but perhaps there is personal reasons behind this and we are now seeing why.
Doesnt he only seem to work hard when he is in the shop window? I agree, what I have seen from him he is a great player. If his attitude is right & he wants in for the long term its a no brainer to try & sign him. You probably know a bit more about him than me though
He is a very good player and I would jump in for him immediately, but he is currently off form and looks like he needs to lose weight. He was brilliant for Celtic last season and scored some amazing goals, so he clearly has the ability. I can't help think he needs good man to man management to keep his ego up and therefore his confidence, if he doesn't get it then he piles on the weight and everything goes belly up. That said, I knew Lennon wanted McFadden and I would suggest Commons also knew this and perhaps this is why his form has completely gone. He needs a move and I reckon if we got him then we would have a new Leeds legend on the cards.
We've just signed Pugh & we have Sam & Nunez who currently can't even guarantee a place on the bench. Why would we want another LW LM who can't even get into a Celtic team who are not exactly setting the world alight in a division weaker than ours?
Boggers, he is quality thats why! Nunez is never going to be a natural wide man & Commons loves to 'get at em' and is great to watch on the ball. Commons will be a good signing wherever he ends up Becchio/Mccormack Howson Commons Pugh Clayton Snodgrass either way he will give us options and I would welcome the signing
You obviously have no idea about Commons, otherwise you wouldn't have posted what you just have. Commons is a very good player who is at his best on the left wing, where he has pace and technical ability, he also has a brilliant eye for goal. He was Derby's best player for a few seasons before his move to Celtic. He was wanted by three EPL clubs prior to moving to Celtic, but decided to move to the SPL for personal reasons. He was brilliant last season and was clearly the best player in the SPL, but this season it has all gone wrong and he needs to move on. Commons is not a defender (like Pugh) nor a battling left midfield player (like Pugh) he is an attacking player who likes to run at players and pass the ball into dangerous areas. Commons is 100% better than Nunez (currently is) and would probably be a hero with the Leeds fans if he came. If you can imagine a faster Snodgrass on the left wing, then that is what we would get.
Bucks/BFB, fair enough. Point taken. But if he's that good, why can't he get into a Celtic team struggling to hold onto 2nd spot in a league weaker than ours? That said, if he is that good & would improve our team, so be it.
He´s a quality player. Would love us to sign him, and he´d actually replace Gradel. However, with Pugh signing and probably being made permanent, I doubt we´ll go for him.
So we sign an overweight, out of form winger can you imagine the posts from Clivetime, Bluememe and co! Could we really take the risk in waiting for Commons to lose weight and get his form back?
He's not playing this season due to a massive loss of form and weight gain. I have stated I think this is due to personal issues at the club and the fact Lennon has always stated he would like McFadden at Celtic. Give Commons the man management he requires and you have a special player in your team.
He would be much more of a natural replacement for Gradel than Pugh is. Pugh would never be able to fill Gradel's position in a 4-2-3-1 and I'd be inclined to put him alongside Clayton. Also Nunez doesn't seem to perform on the wing and Sam is more of a natural right footed RW who will beat the fullback and put a cross in.
Fair point Simon. Gradel was naturally right footed, as Snoddy is left footed. Both, along with Sam, tend to cause their most damage by cutting inside fullback & either curling shots to the far post or teeing up crosses for others to knock in. Fair point BFB. Let's wait & see what happens.
The last time we bought a great player that was alleged to have been shagging around with fellow players wives, we ended up giving him to manure.... I hear that he has a fondness for Charlie, I don't know who she is but Leeds don't need to find out...
Hmmm, now this is a made up story. I'll put you straight, Kris Commons & his partner Lisa, have two children, the youngest of whom was born in March 2011, they sadly had a third child still born in 2009. In all the time I have been around football players I have never found a fellow professional make allegations of Kris Commons having a relationship with anyone, which is more than I can say for many other players, including a few currently at Leeds United. These rumours are usually made up by supporters just for the sake of it and I seem to remember some Liverpool 'fans' going to the media last year trying to sell a story of Alex Gerard and Kris Commons, which the media quite rightly threw out due to it being utter bollox. This story was not about Kris Commons but about trying to get money out of Gerard.
Question is, why would Kris Commons want to join Leeds? remember he left Derby for Celtic last season when Derby was in I think 3rd. So why would he come back to the championship for a cash stripped outside promotion contender?
You're right, we are lacking a left winger who will actually attack fullbacks. I think Sam could do more than decent on the left wing, but he's currently injured.
you guys seem to be talking up a player that plays well once and doesnt do it again for a few games. Hes out of form, fat and a position of which we have plenty. If he is so great, why are prem clubs not in for him now?
