Right what is it with this "we were 5th best over the year" rubbish coming from? We finished 11th in 19/20 & were are currently 14th this season. Yes we had good spells throughout the calendar year but that means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things. Did we get any extra points for being 5th best in the year, or do we get in to Europe for it? the facts of the matter are that even with this amazingly talented manager we have got we finished mid table. It is great to have positive style of play, but unless that positive style equates to points on the board it is useless. Do you really think 10 points from a possible 48 is good? If it was any other manager would you be calling for them to go? I couldn't give a **** about what Tottenham did with Poch, I don't support them. So as a fan am i not allowed to have my own opinion & say when I think something needs changing within the club?
Bosz ain't coming to Saints. Labbadia has a far, far worse record than Ralph did in Germany. He stays about five minutes at most of his clubs before getting sacked. Might as well have Hughes. I very much doubt Gerrard would come to Saints. Artwell and Barry-Murphy would be utterly mad appointments at this stage. Not to say they might not become good, but there's a world of difference managing a premier league team and players, than to manage Crewe. Kohfeldt currently has Bremen in pretty much the same position that Ralph has Saints. I mean, appreciate the effort in suggesting these, but there's nothing to even hint that any of the realistic ones would be better than Ralph.
My humble apologies, next time I will do my research oh great one. must try harder with your jokes though.
What do you mean "where is it coming from"? It's just a fact. One that you're dismissing to concentrate on the poor run currently. No, it doesn't get us into Europe. Just like this current run doesn't get us relegated. Where do you think this squad should finish? I'd say 11th/mid table is really a very good result. Do you not think so? Do you think that he should be getting this squad into Europe or something!? Of course you're allowed to have your opinion. Where has anybody stopped you doing that? Just as I am allowed to strongly disagree with your opinion. And can you point to where anybody has said that 10 points is good? It's not, it's crap. We're struggling. That's not news.
As Franny has pointed out, last season resulted in an 11th place finish. I'd suggest that with this squad, that's actually pretty decent.
So basically any names I bothered to mention would be shot down as they're not Ralph. It is not my job to scout all the managers in the world, that is what the club are supposed to do. So let us presume Ralph does go, who would you have?
No one is happy with our 2021 form, but our 2020 form means Ralph has plenty of goodwill in the bank for most Saints fans.
If it was Ralph's decision to go into the season with Valery and Vokins as our only back up FBs and then let them both go in January and not replace either then questions certainly need to be asked but his subsequent interviews suggest that his hands have been tied. It's been clear to me that he hasn't thought that either were ready/good enough as he avoided playing them.
Not at all. If you mentioned a name that showed an potentially obvious improvement, I'd be perfectly happy to agree with you. Presuming Ralph does go, who would I have? Okay, let's play "Ralph gets poached by Spurs". Well, it's a tough one. As you say, it's the clubs job, not ours, but of those you've mentioned, I'd probably sound out Gerrard. Other than him...it could be interesting to see what Wilder could do with a better squad than he had at Sheffield United. Thomas Frank might be worth a look too, though I don't think he'd be better than Ralph. I'd probably throw money at Graham Potter and hope for the best.
Benitez would make us harder to beat, but would make us boring at the same time. Lots of low scoring games. Also not sure we could afford him given how much it would cost to sack Ralph.
No I absolutely am in no doubt that we are a mid-table team all be it one that could flirt with the European places every now & then, I have never said otherwise. All I am pointing out is that people keep going on about us being the 5th best team last year means nothing. We had a couple of decent periods followed by bad periods hence why we finished 11th over all.
Some of the Foreign names I mentioned could be decent, but as you have already said with Franks would they be better than Ralph, I guess we may never know. I think Gerrard would be a decent shout & probably the only real option as he would want to prove himself in the PL & would be under little to no pressure with us as a mid table finishing team & could no doubt use us as a platform. I don't think Wilder would be sexy enough to the board, even though I think he would do a good job. Potter, I'm not sure.
And I'd prefer going to Chelsea and scoring 3 goals rather than playing for a 0-0. Even losing 5-2 to City giving it a go rather than constantly defending and inevitably losing anyway.
