I have little doubt they were against the takeover. I mean big money takeovers haunt them and that's one big factor in the super league move. The thing is though that if I was PIF I'd be very concerned they could try again and I'd lose the opportunity I had for investment. I would expect we need some new legislation brought in to ensure this can't resurface because somewhere down the line it's going to.
It's a difficult one because the financial clout of the investmet from Saudi Arabia would probably buy them a seat at the top table even if the team are not doing that well as it seems that to be 'Big' you do not actually have to achieve anything (Spurs). At least if they are part of the conversation they can have an influence. I would not want Newcastle to be part of the ESL in it's current format but over time this will probably be worked out and it may actually be an interesting competition on the future.
**** that I don't want to be part of anything like that. As a fan of a club that's got little hope I'd be disgusted of we went onto remove the hope entirely for the other 90 odd clubs in this country and the many more across Europe.
What I was meaning is that the ELS could morph over time into something like a slightly smaller Champions League, to be played along with the Premier League. I would be against anything that harms the football pyramid and the grassroots especially but with discussion and cooperation the ESL or a drastically changed Champions League could have a place. It would be better to be part of these discussions rather than have them forced on the club.
I like the idea they **** off and in a few tears we go up against them post takeover in a league that's still got a bigger draw
Don't renew the Sky deal. PL goes it alone. Fans subscribe to a PL platform which costs less than SKY. Worldwide coverage. Generate billions. Share out more money down the football pyramid. Everyone's a winner, except SKY! Fixed!!! ....and let the takeover go through
The spineless six were meeting before EFL meetings to agree on their agenda prior to facing the other 14 clubs. They colluded for self interest and to prevent challenge. It should not just be about football. It should be prison for those responsible. No wonder they are apologising.
