As no-one is giving Peej an answer and us Muslims are meant to be polite and kind to everyone during Ramadan (although Appendix 5 of the Koran says that doesn’t apply if your team has just tried to screw the rest of the League and everyone is giving you undeserved pelters for it).

Anyway this is what I had for the fast-breaking meal last night. Rissoles, martabak (square ones) which are both savoury- filled pancaky type things, the former coated in breadcrumbs with a hint of chilli and the latter very thin filo like pastry. Then one of my colleagues wives had made a Stollen so ate some of that as well.

The green things are like crepes but filled with a sugary coconut paste and the drink is a Pandan (Coconut) Syrup diluted with fresh young coconut water and flesh, tape (which is fermented cassava) and jelly-like beans. Very sweet but a real energy booster. The really strict Muslims won't eat Tape as its fermented and so they think it might contain alcohol but its really nice.

They are not big on the aromatic Indian or Pakistani type curries here but their Gules are good (Seafood, chicken, beef) etc with roti canai. Its all Indian influenced from traders to North Sumatra. The more local ones are the dry coconut curries - Beef Rendang which is superb. None of them are a patch on Rusholme curries though.

Do you have the energy for proper beef after fasting?

    Usually during the fast

hungry animal mode is the best time to beef in my experience

Not quite the same though. Agree if you're comparing Eid to any of those occasions.

All non-muslims should look forward to... no, expect - a decent tray full of home-made chicken biryani from Mrs Khan a few doors down on Eid. It's the least she can do tbf.

got a plate of homemade saag(spinach curry) from Mrs Haq from up the road today.

Homemade saag is an art form...can take all day to make and is absolutely glorious with a dollop of butter that melts away...to be eaten with Parathas but works great with roti too

Brenda hauled off Wesley Fofana last night on the 60 minute mark... seemed strange as he was playing really well and is arguably our strongest defender in the air and West Brom have some huge players and one back and we might have gone a bit Spursy ... anyway, turns out young Wes is fasting and Brenda is keen to look after him during Ramadan ... top management.
