Errrm no. The post I replied to said that no one outside of the U.K. gave a ****e about the PL games that didn’t involve the ‘big clubs’. They patently do, for numerous other reasons, one of which I gave examples of.
Is this really relevant in this instance? We can all see through their faux piety. I actually don't care what they think or what their motivations are. I wasn't influenced one iota by anything they said - I expressed my own opinion that I wanted no part of the ESL in the form that it was presented. It seems like the majority of fans felt the same. I wouldn't abandon my opinion because it happens to coincide with some people that I don't normally have much time for, nor would I want to see football even further up **** creek just to give those other bodies a poke in the eye. Football needs an overhaul, definitely - but my sincere belief is that only a curb on spending will properly address the problem - further inflationary measures just blow up the bubble bigger, make it last a bit longer, but it will burst one day.
big games... to them, watching James play means it’s a big game. Take him out and it’s no longer a big game. However those people will still likely watch the united v Liverpool play even without any player from their country involved.

You're fooling yourself if you think the PL exists without the top 6. And as much as you think the PL is what it is because of all 20 teams, there are 6 teams who drive the tv deals and commercial deals. The only reason companies sponsor the smaller teams is because these teams play vs big teams twice a year.
All societies have certain limitations on free speech. It's a pity there isn't one on total bullshit so we'd never have to hear Fat Sam speak again.
Watch what? The Super League? - hell yes! We fans are a fickle bunch and I would love to see us playing the big teams week in week out i.e. as we already do in the CL PL without the big 6? - nope. PL but still with the big 6? - yep, but I only watch the big matches, and all of the LFC games
Of course. They think they don't, because of some amendment or other to their constitution thingy and they're a bunch of idiots- but there are still laws that take precedence. It's still unlawful to use hate speech or incitement to violence or libel or all sorts of things.
Let's be honest, the Super League in it's proposed state wasn't good purely because of the closed state. It needed a proper plan and it needed a lot of work. But the thought of playing the best teams all the time, who wouldn't want that? We all bang on about wanting CL footy - why do we want it? Money? Status? Playing big games vs the big teams? Other than the closed competition, the Super League would have been the same and even more lucrative.
Perhaps it's an unpopular view - but I've said many times that the domestic league is bigger to me than the CL.
You think the PL would have somehow folded without the self anointed big 6? Would it have been weakened? - yes. Would it have been devalued? - yes. Would it have still been popular? - yes. I’m beyond bored already of the narrative that people wanted the clubs who chose to act the way they did, to leave the PL. literally no one wanted that. That’s part of why there was such an uproar, as it was them who were putting their position at risk, chasing imaginary cash in some extremely ill conceived glorified friendly tournament.
Ye but we like those games because of what you have to do to earn them. That magic goes the second they become a weekly occurrence.
totally agree right up to when you get preachy mate frankly if you stop thinking like a match going fan as I know you are and just expand your thinking slightly that people with a tv actually matter (and tbh you are far from the worst in that regard I've know) then honestly there's popular and theres POPULAR. the match going fans and the locals to these clubs have rights gone nuts. But, did some guy in a bar in new york who goes at 8am to watch or the guy from singapore who pays 5 gran on tickets give a ****, nope. the reality is Uefa have made 2.6 billion and distributed off the CL. this lot were chasing 5 or 6 billion for this product and would have got it if it had been accepted. Uefa have not actually sold their product hard enough but who cares? it will only end up in super agents and undeserving players pockets. it was also not a friendly tournament Personally watching the rats squeal has been quite entertaining but lets not kid ourselves either.
not unpopular at all imo. Its the bread and butter as i think shanks once said. Its the week in week out entertainment of a weekend. A midweek anfield under lights special occasions once or twice as season was SPECIAL as Sucky has said. thats the magic of it. rarity.
