If Mourinho has been sacked because he has had a blazing row with Levy about it my respect for him will have gone up quite a lot.

Respect for Jose if that's the case.

Agreed. Any player, manager, or other football official who fights against it will have my utmost respect ... until they do something to piss me off again anyway <laugh>

I can see the footballers union coming out with a statement against the super league, or at least I hope they do. They are sportsmen, and sportsmen love competition and hopefully they can see through this farce for what it is. A power play/money making franchise and not what football is supposed to be about.

Seen a few people mention that Jose refused to take training this morning in protest at the Super League proposals. No idea if that's true or not, mind.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's true. It seems a really odd time to sack him.

Was just about to say the same, Tom. I can’t stand him, but if he’s told Levy to **** if with his proposal for a super league, I take my hat off to him.

Don't Leeds realise they're tangling with European royalty?

So Liverpool cannot finish in a champion's league place. Just as well they have the Super League to look forward to instead.

I think that next season will be fascinating as I cannot see Liverpool challenging for the Premier League. Their title is going to be something of a "one off" akin to what Leicester achieved. Man City are going to face a challenge from Chelsea and Man Utd but it will be a battle for the fourth place in 21/22.

While anything is possible, I'm guessing that he's been sacked because he's actually a pretty **** manager who is tactically a decade out of date, and who no longer commands the respect of his players. His whole reputation was built on winning titles; he won things, so players put up with his dickishness, at least for a short period of time. But from 2012 on he has one title, and his greatest success in continental football in that span was a win in Europey. He has a League Cup win, but so does Alex McLeish, and his last club managerial job was freaking Zamalek in Egypt*. That doesn't really drive players to put up with your nonsense.

I'm excited for the next step in Mourinho's career: writing five autobiographies where he ****s on literally everyone he ever encountered in football, and providing dour halftime commentary for Champions League group stage matches.

*One of his players at Zamalek? One Emmanuel Mayuka. Who now turns out for the wonderfully-named National Pension Scheme Authority Stars FC in Zambia.

Brighton picked up a point 0 - 0 at Chelsea and could have won it.

This probably won't be terribly popular, but with Ryan Mason taking the reins as interim Spurs manager, I have a strong rooting interest in them winning the cup.

Not only because it would be an incredible story -- 29 year old whose career ended prematurely wins cup in his second match managing at any level, over the best team in the country -- but because it would be absolutely hysterical if he succeeds where so many big name managers have failed for them in recent years.

As long as he has a disaster in his first match, I’m fine with that.

Losing 5-0 to lowly Saints only to beat City for the cup really would be storybook. I highly recommend that he go that route.

Sorry but I feel different about this Schad. Spurs and their horrible fans are some of the worst in the country and they deserve nothing. A right royal thrashing, even a complete humiliation, would be a fitting day out for them and a smack in the face to that slimy, creepy Daniel Levy. Spurs fans didn't do much to protest against the ESL either, so **** em.
