Religion (or at lease belief in a divine creator) can go hand in hand with science. Modern physics is similar to religion in many ways, nothing can be proven about subatomic structures yet people believe in their existence. You can't see inside an atom, there's obviously nothing in there???

The massive difference is science is never right as it will always look to prove itself wrong in the search for answers.

religion, no matter how you try and spin it is final. Thats how it is.

    I was being mischievious -
I have no intention in getting deeply involved in this thread.
There have been (literary) innumerable theories relating to the subject in hand.
I was merely stating that those who believe have NOT been proved wrong - whereas athiests or subscribers of other theories are constantly being subjected to scrutiny. If you wish to research the documentation, you're welcome to it.<peacedove>

But scientists still make outrageous and unfounded claims. I'm not criticising science, it's the perfect way to explore this universe using observation and tried and tested methods. But there are still so many things that haven't been explained, like how gravity comes about, or how the strong and weak nuclear forces exist. As in religion, with the finer points of God, almost impossible to explain. But there you go, the universe is very complicated, many things are not as they seem.

Science does make wild claims but unlike religion it doesnt just leave it at that and then kill anyone who dares disagree ( religion doesnt do that as much now but back in the day it did ) it starts a never ending search for answers.

Thats the beauty of science. Science will save your life, religion wont.

But that wasn't religion, that was humans using religion as an excuse to gain power.

Religion clearly gives them this excuse. the fault lies with religion and thus god.

or it would if he existed.

But if there were no religion, people would still use something as an excuse. You can't blame religion really, just the ****s in charge at the time <ok>

Humans would make up an excuse, though. Anyway, religion, good or bad, doesn't really have anything to do with God's existence or non-existence, you can be a theist but not be attached to a religion in particular.

No, you didn't answer the question.
If somebody asks you how old you are and you reply "green", then you haven't answered the question, you've made a totally unrelated statement in response to it.

    What assertion?

You want me to trawl through a ton of texts for the answer, which might not even be widely accepted by Islam anyway, rather than just stating it?
    Why?

    Irrelevant.
It has the same general idea, just with a different name.

Why do you always try to dodge specific questions about Islam?
Rather than answer or admit that you don't know, you say that it's in the Quran or the Hadith or that any suggestion of contradiction has been disproved, without ever stating where, in what way and by who.
