Apparently Dunga is leading a movement in the Brazillian Parliament to pass a law specifically preventing FIFA from changing or circumventing any Brazillian laws prior to or during the World Cup - with particular reference to any fiscal, employment or planning matters. Commentators in Brazil are suggesting that he has a very good chance of success.

If he does succeed, then that would certainly put a big dent in FIFA's profit calculations and may even mean that they would seek another country to host the event. Guess what? Perhaps the only country that could take on the event at such short notice would be England. Now I wonder if the FA would even consider it without more than a demand for a pound of flesh in return?

Got a link for this? Would be interested to see which laws FIFA may try to alter to their own means.

ermmmm.... ok i don't know anything of the facts pertaining to the laws and such tht may or may not create the scenario above.... BUT

england is the only country who could take such and event? ..... i'll be nice and just ask why?

    think about this list.

    france
    spain
    germany
    italy
    USA

then think about the myraid other countries like south korea, japan, australia, south africa, china and the list goes on and on of countires where stadia are in existance and as good if not better than the stadia we bid for the WC in 2018 with.

Why would england eb the only country who could host this thing at "such short notice" ie 1-2years notice.

Quick response as I'm on my way out.

Source - a piece on Radio 5's Up All Night confirmed by a Brazillian mate by text.

FiFA's demand is that they are free of all tax regulations and can use any employment terms they like

As for England - they have a plan on the table that does not rely upon building new stadia. Also it was readilly accepted by FIFA that it was commercilly the best plan on the table.

ok I can undersatnd that logic but i would have to put it out there that most of europe has the stadia so if push came to shove i'm sure fifa would not be turning to us, my view is while the best plan on the table for 2018 might have ben us they didn't pick us and also bascially not everyone in europe bid.

    Just my thoughts and ramblings....

You'd be surprised. Spain for example, bar Barcelona and Real Madrid have no stadiums (or very few) above 40k capacity. Part of the reason why they teamed up with Portugal. The fact we have so many large stadiums offers FIFA a chance to get more in the stadiums and thus more in their pocket.

This is true but we're forgetting one rather important fact here...95% of FIFA delegates ****ing hate England and pretty obviously don't want us to have the world cup anytime soon <ok> Would Blatter come crawling to the FA in the event of this happening? Maybe but it seems an unlikely scenario and I wouldn't bet against him making a few quick phone calls to the good ol' US of A.

The sooner we leave FIFA the better for all.

But I guess too many FA hands are being greased by Blatter to not rock the gravy train.

Be interesting to see what Fifa would do if we (the FA) did actually tell them to **** off. Fifa can barely put together a Plan A never mind a Plan B or even C.
