the shrews visit the leafy affluent crawley on saturday, hopefully they will leave crawley town leaving the creepy crawleys flatulent. the shrews face 2 big away games on the trot crawley and millers, let us deal with this saturdays game. crawley are on a roll of 4 straight wins, 12 points 7 goals for and 1 against. let us now look at all crawleys league results this season for within there lies a chink of hope, er only a small chink results. w a cobblers 1-0, w h argyle 2-0, w a shots 1-0, w h bantams 1-0, L h swindon 0-3, L a morecambe 0-6, w h gas, 4-1, L a cheltenham 3-1,w a gulls 3-1, w h southend 3-0, w h maccs 2-0, d a vale 2-2. crawleys home record is spectacular and daunting league p12 w8 d1 l3 f22 a17 gd5 p25 pos.2 shrews p12 w7 d2 l3 f22 a18 gd4 p23 pos 4 had it not been for morecambe cheltenham and swindon, crawley would be runaway leaders with a large gd. so what swindon, cheltenham and morecambe can do shrews can do, but not if shrews play like last saturday. i want to see morgan and sharps rested unless he is fully fit. tom bradshaw should exersise his sore bench bottom alongside gornell, our defence and m/field to see off moneybags crawley. shrews may not have the money but we are a class act. 3-2 to shrews richards, gornell and bradshaw. floreat salopia
Cheers AJ for the summary. I think we have a good chance to get at least a point from this, as long as they allow us to play passing football and our defence is looking stronger than Saturday.
may i add, a lot stronger defence, than saturday. i am sure uncle graham is concerned about all the goals town are conceding and a few choice ellesmere port words may have been imparted in certai ears this morning. town cannot affort poor second half lapses in defence and players up front asleep if we are to go up this year. i sometimes wonder if a glass of rowlands vintage port might help our defence before the game to supplement uncle grahams dulcet pull your fingers out tones.
Absolutely massive game for STFC! Crawley 2-2 Shrewsbury Morgan and J. Taylor (late equalizer I'm feeling!) 3,500
Must win game for Shrewsbury Crawley 1 Shrewsbury 0 (Scorer-the bloke from Miami Vice. Steve Evans sent to the stand for past crimes and being Steve Evans)
come on you shrews breathe on 'em, floreat salopia and amwythig am byth. now if cheltenham swindon and morecambe can beat them, then surely town can. who are crawley and where have they come from. a small town in west sussex who have done well with pots of money to win promo to league 2. is the money running out, are crawley town due for another reverse, if they are then the shrews, the man utd of L2 will winkle, probe and craft an away win. this game is one of money bags against a class act . town must concentrate for 90 odd minutes to win this titan clash. who are we? we are the shrews of shrewsbury town, the class act of league 2 and shropshire gladiators. fs coys, bots, aab. well it sounds good
Selection headache for GT on Saturday - Collins scored a 7 minutehatrick against Liechtenstein http://www.uefa.com/under21/season=2013/matches/round=2000192/match=2006929/postmatch/report/index.html
I agree this is one massive game for us - we need our experienced players for this but they must deliver and stop making schoolboy errors at the back. I was not that impressed by Crawley against Northampton - they seemed to be a route one team but they do have a threat with their two strikers. Fingers crossed for a performance of Port Vale proportion from the Shrews - we need Marvin back to his best to lead the line and send us on the way to victory.
all down to the defence im affraid, if we keep on playing like school boys at the back we will be in trouble, but im going for 1-1(collins) Att4100
After the long trips to Arsenal and Southend I promised myself I would give Crawley a miss but i'm not too good at keeping promises and found myself buying a ticket before the game on saturday, if i'd of waited until after, I probably would have kept to my word . Prediction Crawley 2 - Town 0 (Hope i'm wrong).Attendance 3,607. Not comfortable with Chris Neal in goal and worried about the defence. Thought we did well with Hazell, Grandison & Goldson as stand ins but the returning Sharpes and SCS were so shakey Saturday, i'm not sure what to expect.
i know what to expect, 3-2 to shrews, richards, gornell and bradshaw. now where is whatshrew, he may put a different slant on the result. talking of who is where, where the bh is jenny!
now here is a talking point, suggest the team uncle graham should choose to beat crawley. i notice in the star sharps was pleading for less mistakes from the team, i know he is not yet fit, but get fit soon. neal,--------------------------------sharps if fit, cjs----------wroe wright richards, ainsworth,--gornell, these are my possibles, feel free to fill in blanks and nominate subs taylor smith mcalister bradshaw collins. i might say it grieves me to have youngsters on the bench but this is a game for experience. fs this thread is sponsored by jenny's! pies, pastries and other refreshments
---------Gornell Morgan Wright Richards Wroe Ainsworth Jacobson SCS Sharps Grandison -----------Neal is what I guess Turner will put out I would like to see Gornell and Collins start, but I wouldn't want to miss out on all of the important stuff that Morgan provides! Having Richards on the pitch means you have choice of foramtion/positions as he can play LM too. Neal I think will start and if we lose then Smithy might get his place back (just hope he keeps back in his area a bit more.)
try taylor instead of wright? then swap the wingers over? one of JT and lionel can play on the left? wright needs refreshing methinks
Or even shove Richards on the left and McAllister in CM, then we'd be more solid on the ball I think.
