After reading this on SAFC.com http://www.safc.com/news/20111013/sunderland-make-headlines-in-korea_2256213_2480606 I think Sunderland could become big over there. It looks like they have already taken a liking to us. I do think Ji was a tactical buy, you know 2 million or so, getting MUCH more back in shirt sales and sponsors. Hopefully he will come good regardless. I mean look, Sunderland on the front/back pages of a South Korean paper, when was the last time this happened??? Also looking at this, I do think Bruce will be in the job for the foreseeable future.
The problem is for me, success on the pitch, breeds success abroad, midtable/relegation scraps and getting knocked out early in the cups every season and most foreigners couldnt give a **** about us, doesnt matter how much we butter the delegates up. Yes some of it will be publicity over there, so at least some will think, hmm Sunderland, thats a new name, but then if they watch us and we get a pasting off the likes off Norwich etc (not even the top 6) they will just think whats all the fuss about, Man U are better, will keep supporting them. It needs to go in tandem, Quinn over there, and reletive success on the pitch, but even then its going to be hard to get them out of the Man U/Liverpool stranglehold, if indeed thats even possible. only time will tell i suppose, but its definately going to take a few years, and not just happen overnight.
Exactly my feelings. And, for that reason, I hope Bruce isn't here much longer, as I don't think he can take us any further than established bottom half. Foreign fans - in any country - won't buy into that.
i know a lad who had that never got an erection ever again dodgy place those markets thats why i never go tothe bigg market all those skunks unable to get a hard on and the lasses walking around with their knickers around the ankles (the odd few that had any on)
