I think its all a con basically. What they are proposing is a league which isnt too dissimilar to UEFA's new Champions League format. The new UEFA Champions League proposal is semi enclosed. If, for example, Liverpool finished 8th they would still qualifiy due to their past Champions League success, and West Ham, who finished 4th, would lose out. Basically wiping out the competitive nature of our league competition. That in itself would have been a scandal. I believe that this Super League proposal has basically popped up so that the Champions League changes look less radical and self preserved. Its all set up so that it seems that everybody wins. UEFA stop the Super League, Hurrah for UEFA! Big clubs negotiate a Champions League where they are guaranteed entry every season, basically a Super League in all but name, where they still hold the majority of the cards. And football fans from all clubs throughout the pyramid are lulled into thinking that the disaster of the Super League has been averted when in fact the new Champions League is basically a slightly watered down version of it. Therefore I wouldnt be surprised that UEFA, Premier League etc. and the big clubs are in cahoots. The bottom of it all is that the football hierarchy want to slap the rest of the footballing world. The rest of the football world will not put up with a slap. They refused to be slapped. So the big clubs threaten to punch them hard instead. So ourselves as fans and the rest of the clubs say 'Oh erm......actually, we best settle for a slap instead.' And we all just move on.........

What was the point in KLD buying us then? I mean, I may be getting ahead of myself, but I'm sure a remit of buying any football club at league level, would be to get to the Premier League and push for Champions League qualification? Whether its a 5 year plan or a 25 year plan? I bet he's now thinking 'Why did I bother?' I wonder what the Arabs who are still interested in buying Newcastle think of this?

Agreed. Let the 12 ****er clubs do what they want and the rest can go back to the "European Cup" as a straight knockout competition that can throw up all sorts of mad results

Imagine Forest v Malmo as CL final!

As i mentioned before, this could easily be countered.

Ban the players who participate from ever playing in a FIFA, UEFA or national league for the rest of their lives.

Schedule all international matches to be played at the same time the "super league" matches are to be played

Ban the renegade clubs from ever re-entering their respective domestic competitions.

To me the players are the easiest to get at. Every player in the world ould dream of winning a world cup, take that opportunity away from them and a lot of them will have their legal teams getting them out of their contracts.

With maybe the top 2 from every European country getting a place in it. So Hadjuk Split meet Roma, or Dortmund have a tricky away tie at Botev Plovdiv. PSG get knocked out on away goals by Viking Stavanger. That would be exciting.

Its shocking isnt it. Looking forward to hearing from managers and players. A high percentage of British players who have grown up in the country and understand the traditions of premier league, fa cup, internationals will hopefully look to move clubs.
Boot them out. Top 6 teams from championship get promoted and subsequently top 6 teams from league one. Watch us finish 7th.

Domestic football won’t die without them.

It will take a hit, then grow again. Do the 30k that turn up at our games, the 20k at each Sheffield club, Forest, Derby, 40k plus at West Ham, Villa, Newcastle care more for United and Liverpool than their own clubs? Do they ****.

The fans of the clubs involved are the ones you feel for. They don’t want it, they’ve been vocal against it, and the owners have given them a massive ‘we don’t give a **** about you’.

I think the owners of the clubs involved have set themselves a Rocky path, they’ve absolute cast iron shown, without shadow of doubt, that the fans of theirs clubs are nothing to them.

Would actually be fantastic to see famous clubs like Feyenoord and Lyon, Gladbach and Dinamo Kiev and so on able to compete.

So let's kick out the intent signed 6 out of the Premiership, 6 will be promoted from the championship to replace them and then 6 from league 1 into the championship and so on.

    Could work?

Maybe this is what football needs. A massive implosion due to the greed of people who only see the money in it. It could well give the world its game back.

I swear they are just trying to strongarm and leverage more power. UEFA should call their bluff.

Agree. Part of the charm/attraction of The FA Cup (for example) is that Wrexham can beat Arsenal, or Chesterfield get to the semis. A straight knockout is better for excitement but of course means big teams can miss out at the early stages.

Changing from European Cup, UEFA Cup & Cup-Winners Cup was a massive mistake. It just cheapened the other 2 cups and now I see they have plans to re-introduce the 3rd cup as a "conference league" WTF?

Often, the UEFA Cup was the better tournament because it had up and coming teams who were finishing high in their domestic leagues and made for an attractive tournament. Now the "Europa League" is seen as a poor 2nd prize by most teams how are in it

The 3 Italian clubs have left the ECA, which I believe means they cannot play in Europe next season, regardless.

Definitely. Surely this is the way to generate more interest, and therefore more money?

If this goes ahead, and the dust settles, the following will happen imo. Leauges won't kick them out. No players will be banned as the union won't let it happen.Amazon will probably be looking at getting the rights and people will watch it, because it's football.

    Greedy kernts. That is all.

Must be cleverer than me, though. They obviously think they can overcome the dead rubber problem. What interest will there be in 9th v 10th half way through the season?

And did l mention that they were greedy kernts...?
