    Heresy!!

    Barnes wasn't as good in the PL as the old 1st division, but I still reckon he was good enough to make the top five list based on his PL performances. But then I didn't follow football in general quite as closely back then so I may be wrong.

    the bulk of his career was outside of the prem years as was barnes... But yes still a great player in the early 90's.. as was barnes really... barnes was still half decent when he went to newcastle.
