@Saf bumps the thread for a debate on riots currently doing the rounds. All I can see is the last post previously. Hits hard in its own way.
Yeah...I do ... don't mean I like what's going on but ultimately if people were engaged with rather than ignored, lied to, lied about etc then ****s like Robinson wouldn't get a hearing.
Was reading an article earlier where the author was talking about how the issue of immigration is always presented in a negative light. i.e. Stop the boats and 'illegal' asylum seekers (which of course is a contradiction in terms) and nowhere in the discourse is the positive impact of immigration in the UK discussed. About how much has been contributed to this country from people from overseas in Science, Medicine, Food, Culture the Arts etc. About how Indian, Bangladeshi and Pakistani soldiers fought alongside British Soldiers to defeat the Nazis, and about how we as a nation are so much more enriched for our multi cultural status. And I guess this is the rub for some people, they don't want us to be multi cultural, they want some lost to time notion of place that probably never even existed. They want to ignore the fact that Britain has been a melting pot of different cultures and influences going all the way back to when the Vikings first landed here in the year 700. They'll still want the Asian surgeon to fix them when they need an operation of course.
Personally I wish the Anglos and Saxons would **** off back to where they came from, they do nothing but cause trouble.

Have just been chatting to a German bloke over a warm can of San Miguel. Wasn't the first part of the conversation by any means, but Germany has the same, or worse, problems that we have over here. Of course, immigration brings many, many possitives. But equally, it can bring a **** ton of negatives. You can't just say that everyone coming over in a boat is going to be a doctor or something, and you're racist if you suggest otherwise, it's utter ****ing bollocks. It's how it's managed. And now labour, having claimed 'they would do it differently' are in the firing line to sort this. And yes, of course there is illegal immigration. There are plenty who have no right or reason whatsoever to set up home in this country. Just like there are plenty who do. This media/social media polarisation does my ****ing head in, you're racists if you dare question opening the borders. There are many shades of grey in all this. Loads. That can be quite rightly questioned.
Yeah well they can take that **** back to their Muslim country then and as long as we can built a Mosque in Mecca, then it's all fair
I disagree that there's no discussion about the positive impacts of immigration. There's always been lots of it as far as I can see. Just because some racists ignore it and pretend it's not happening doesn't make it true.
