One of the very good guys, Dartford 36, has suffered a family tragedy and will be dropping out from the forum. Would anyone like me to pass any message to him?
I don't have anything that needs specifically passing on to him, but I am sorry to hear that he has suffered such a tragedy. I imagine we all feel the same. I'm sure he'll be missed by fellow fans who know him, and he'll be in their thoughts.
I did meet him a while ago and he is a very nice person. If there's no objection I will pass on good wishes from former ITTVers on here by PM rather than on the forum
I don't recognise the name Dartford 36, but there are good guys on ITTV, and you can certainly pass on my good wishes to one of them.
Thanks for the update @Smudger603 There is some emailing just begun regarding this. We'll see where that goes presently...
Just to let you know chaps, I have re-joined ITTV. I think I over-reacted back in March when I fell out with Royston. I can be too sensitive about things sometimes and not pause to think before taking action. My membership of ITTV (like my membership of Dick Plumb's new Forum) will not take me away from Not606 Charlton. I believe all our fans' forums have their good and worthwhile aspects.
Time for a poll. I suggest: Is Lardi a) the greatest moderator in the history of the universe? b) a harlot whose loyalties can be bought by enticing words and a well-turned ankle from Wales? c) all of the above
I make plenty of mistakes, and I over-react sometimes. My sense of morality is too bipolar probably. During my time on this forum so far, I think this showed itself most clearly during the Brexit process. Looking back, I think I over-played my arguments on the subject more than a little, which eventually contributed to at least one other member quitting. Something I'm not proud of at all. Nothing wrong with having a clear personal sense of right and wrong. But (particularly on that subject) I was like a Staffordshire bull terrier playing tug-of-war. I just wouldn't leave it alone. My high horse has backed me into many a tight corner. But I hope the responsibility of looking after this forum has helped me be a bit more stable, at least here. I should try to adopt that more balanced attitude to other places too. Regarding Royston and why I left ITTV, if I had said the things I typed about him (just before I left) to his face in a pub, he would have been well within his rights to give me a slap for my trouble. And the response he did make (the cause of my leaving) was on his behalf alone, not the responsibility of Reams or other members on ITTV. Having spited my face I have now had to reattach my nose. I don't want to be the Andy Cole to Royston's Teddy Sheringham. Life's too short. We're both loyal to Charlton Athletic. My only life-long grudges are against 1) my history teacher at school (for making me take the CSE instead of O Level) and 2) Roland Duchatelet. I passed that history CSE with grade A (equivalent to an O level pass), which simultaneously showed what a good teacher of history but a useless judge of character that tweed jacketed tosser was. As for Roland - he is naturally on my sh*t list for ever. But I have no appetite for making that list any longer.
No they don't want me and I don't want any Forum that Reams is part of. If he leaves I might think about posting on there.
You are very kind. AHLL and Super were very good, and there are undoubtedly others - probably some from before my time. I do what I can...
Good man, Lardy. Although I'm a Remoaner I've always been quite happy to read your views on B****t because they are so honest and reasonable, and I can't see why anyone should mind them, let alone leave the forum.
