owen is at the end of his career... in his hey day he was up there with the best.. also re fowler he did **** all for england, Owens record is far superior. Fowler ended his career pretty quickly too so we dont get to remember how **** he quickly became.. didnt leeds sign him? did he do well for them? .. as to my quip re blomqvist being better than mcmanaman was just utilising your own logic to that snippet of joy.

Which bits do you need help with RHC? Always here for ya...

McManaman - overrated (don't hate me, fellow Scouse)...it's an opinion. Can't accuse me of blahblah.

Blomqvist - uhhhh...nah, don't remember a single thing he did. Nah. Swedish was he? Black bloke? Dunno Sweaty.

I've heard daft things Sweaty but...coming off the reet plonker there sir.

Pretty good effort Rus. But I can't ever, will never concede A Cole anywhere near that list. Howzabout we have Owen in...make us both happy?...(Think we know which Owen tho :) ) Sorry, didn't mean that. (I think Wrightie's legacy overrated too).

    Ruud Van Nistelrooy
    Alan Shearer
    Andy Cole
    Robbie Fowler
    Ian Wright

Van Nistelrooy - had "that knack"
    Shearer was a beast.
    Fowler was gifted.

I think Torres. Loathe to say it.
    And probly Drogba. (Same again).

A No.9 is there to score goals though and the record of Cole (and Wright) can not be argued with.

I'd say Henry was more of a number nine in his style of play. I'd have him instead of Cole, and probably Drogba at number 10. Never really rated Cole myself. Other than that I agree pretty much 100%

I didn't mean "Don't go changing, to try to please me". I just meant I find it difficult to know what you mean sometimes. <ok>

I agree, I'd have Drogba in over Wright.

Torres has not done enough to justify inclusion. Don't think he will either.

I was going to have Henry as a 9 but he did tend to come in off from wide rather than being a flat out CF. He could go in either position without argument really.

No worries RHC. Likewise matey. Billy Joel tho?! heheh

Rus - saying "judge them on goals" is as silly as judging Gerrard n Keane all over again. Goalscorers depend on service. Obvs. Bit a redundant point then...

I was just about to say Henry flitted between these so-called 9 n 10 roles. But I'll stick to my five. Drogba defs better than Wrighty. Without doubt. Feels like the dark ages Wright stuff. Think about teh defenders he had to beat too. Nah.

True, but given he played with Bergkamp he was more a number 9 imo. Bit like Messi I guess - the kind of "false number 9" who is ****ing impossible to mark! Damn Frenchie...

    I'd say:

    Number 9s in order:
    Henry
    Shearer
    RVN
    Wright
Fowler / Owen (both as prolific for Liverpool, both tailed off afterwards, probably a toss up)

    Number 10s in order:
    Cantona
    Bergkamp
    Rooney
    Zola
    Drogba

I think Ginola was a leftie - didn't Gillespie play on the right for Newcastle around then?

    I'd have:
    Ronaldo
    Beckham
    Overmars
    Ljungberg
Steve Stone (don't laugh, I always rated the guy)
