We start with Arsenal v Sunderland then move straight onto Newcastle Spurs, a chance for the Northeast to shine, but will we? I would like to say yes but fear that at best it will be half a shine, my team being the other half. With both Arsenal and Sunderland being well off form a drab draw seems on the cards, I would settle for that but fear the gooners could come good. We hate Sky and always manage to show our worst side. We then move to Newcastle and I can see them turning Spurs over, not easy but very doable. Putting all rivalry to one side it would be good for the Northeast to show that there is life outside of London and put on a good show, fingers crossed.
I fancy Arsenal to beat your lot, simply because they are that desperate for results. If 5under1and do win then I think Whinger will be staring down the barrel. I reckon we will beat Tottenham, they have a really bad record up here and aren't the best travellers in general. They have won their last 2 away games and really can't see them making it three in a row but you never know. A lot of our fans have been saying they would take a point now if offered it but I'm not sure I would, I really think we can beat them. Here's hoping we both show the viewers what we can do
We usually play well at Arsenal, but the lack of Bendtner weakens us. They are absolute pony ****e defensively though, and i hope Bruce sees this and goes with 2 up top, get Whickham or Ji on as they simply cannot defend crosses. The down side is we are cack at the minute, and we have to face Robin Van Persie, who can tear any team apart, i don't really fear anyone else in there side, i think we are capable of a draw, but i won't be staking anything on us getting it. Spurs v Toon is different, 2 sides in very good shape, 2 classy midfielders in Cabaye v Modric, and stacks of in form strikers. I just feel Spurs have kicked into real form, and that Bale's pace will be the difference, so i fancy a narrow and probably undeserved 2-1 defeat for the Toon, i will be backing this if the odds are decent, although i won't be surprised to see any result in that one.
Sunlun have a chance. So long as Sess plays on the left and they pick a striker! I suspect we will get a draw. 2 points coming north would be a good day all round!
I'd say so. Adebayor and Defoe are aright ****ing handful mind, but, bizarrely to me, so are Best and Ba at the minute!
Two difficult games to predict. Normally a trip to the Emirates is a daunting prospect, but Arsenal's frailties were exposed last year by ourselves and teams like WBA. This year they really seem to have lost their way completely. The problem for Sunderland, IMHO, is where the goals are going to come from. (I know that you scored 4 against Stoke, but they were knackered from a tough trip to Kiev and looked a shadow of their usual selves) I suspect that Mrs Doubtfire will play a lone striker with 5 in midfield, keep it tight and try to nick something on the break. Does Bruce play Sessignon up front on his own (which seems odd) or does he throw in either Dong or Whickham who have very little Premiership experience. Cattermole could be a liability for you if he plays. This is the type of game where he will want to rough up the Arsenal players (like most teams try to) and end up getting himself sent off. Our game could go either way. Although Spurs seldom do well at SJP, when they are on form they are a very, very good side. It looks like Adebeyor could be missing and VDV also looks doubtful. Pardew has some difficult selection decisions to make with HBA, Marveaux, and Santon all pushing for places in the starting 11. I think that both North East teams will be happy with a point from Sunday.
i fancy a point for each, simply cos all the pressure will be on arse at home and they,ve no backbone at the minute. i want us to win against spuds, but it'll depend what team turns up on the day, both being in good form. however, i wouldn't have either match in my accy
as long as brucey doesnt go for another one of his tactical 'masterstrokes' and play a 9-1 formation, Sunderland could well come away with something. Similarly, Pardew will have to get our tactics right (or maybe get a bit lucky with Spurs' injuries) for us to claim anything from the weekend
Sadly for us Syd if Sunderland do beat Arsenal I've a suspicion the Gunners may come in for Bruce to replace Wenger...
was just saying this on the other cross board thread been some good threads coming over lately and there's always one who sets the tone so to speak back on topic Always been an optimist and hate both arsenal and the spuds so a north east double the spuds don't seem to like it up here so think we might just shade it 1-0 or 2-1 as for you i think as bruce is under pressure you'll get the typical shock win and he'll be safe for a few more weeks to come 1-0
Naturally if either club get a good result it'll be down to poor performances from Arsenal/Spurs because we couldn't possibly beat them on merit could we? We're far too Northern for that! As much as I quite like Arsenal, I'd love you lot to sneak a 1-0 win, I'm curious to see what would happen if Arsenal were sucked into a genuine relegation battle. Reckon our game with Spurs will be tight, would be happy with a draw but not surprised by a win.
This. NUFC have a much greater chance of getting anything from their game than we do. Home advantage, high on confidence etc. Spurs however have more quality so they always have a very good chance. As for SAFCs game, both teams lack confidence, however, we are missing our main goal threat plus we don't have the players that could turn a game in their favour, as Arsenal have.
