I heard that too, think it was being said when Leicester brought in Vardy and how disciplined it was there at the time.......but IMO the main squad was there but struggled to get them to play as a team like Ranieri did.......who gave them a structure along with individual freedom..

I've said before, I'm not yet convinced by NP, Nothing strikes me as a vast improvement from previous.......but we have to give him benefit of the doubt I believe at this stage.....needs to be given some transfer windows to say if he is the real deal....would love to be a fly on the wall for the meeting between him and SL.......what's the demands from both sides??.....
Must admit, I don't see Robbins being the answer to our questions for us to progress....IMO a step backwards

the round about makes me giddy so I don't comment much now.. but [ apologies mentioning it ] LJ took us to a level, and couldn't take us any higher..[ "maybe circumstances" ] that was why he was relieved of his duties.
A season is 46 games .. so win 16 draw 15 lose 15 is mediocre ..63 points ...play offs are usually about 75 points so win 21 draw 12 lose 13 = 75pts is it prudent to say
" we have played x games past results mean we could finish on xyz pts so get rid of the manager?... no … teams do win 5 -6 - 7 on bounce or go 8 9 10 unbeaten [ also reverse scenario ]… but kick in hindsight! [or we will never know ] …. LEE departed at a high point attained over 4 years … since then we have gone down hill …. luckily a few teams around us have as well!
LJ --- DH ---- THE COACH's ----- NP … like Brandon hill covered in snow …………….. save the coach's were i/c for 1.5 games [ NP dependant on them at Swansea]
We currently have NP as manager/ coach …... AND MANY ON HERE have said in the past it takes about 10 games to get organised well he has had 8 to date[ 9 if you count Swansea] and now 2 "easier? games coming up! ……. 6 to go ...…. NP will be able to say DONE MY BIT should there be 62 points on the board after game 46!

Lee Johnson was sacked following a run of nine games without a win and four straight defeats, ending in us being in 12th place and sinking, how can LEE depart at a high point attained over 4 years with that record?

    Nonsense.

Not sure how LJ has made it into this thread.......
NP has a pedigree so he has set his own bar. let’s hope he meets it.

For Bristol City as a club....he did depart on a high..........keeping us at this level for so long...........but to progress was seen by many including SL that we were required to make the change.........................................with this season it has to be said, that it has backfired, it's been a failure.....the good thing is, we are still in the championship, all be it, with a struggle.
We now move on, decisions need to be made and quick otherwise I see next season will be a relegation battle, no doubt the blame will be unjustified again towards LJ and his squad, which to be honest is boring and tedious..........so SL must come up with the right solution, my worry is, if the appointment of Deano is anything to go by. (taking months)........we could be in deep **** without a paddle.
I do feel, that these next few weeks could be make or break regarding SL and this club......progress was promised, so IMO he needs to show with his appointment of the right manager, the backing and time element that he means business............not sure the fans will accept anymore false promises and will become discontent on how the club is run.......The infrastructure has come on leaps and bounds but team affairs has become somewhat of a disaster.

OK, also no facts to indicate that LJ would have done a worse job than what we've had this season....Liked a bit of tinkering did LJ, who's to say he might have got more out of the players??
But you're right.....it is my opinion.......................................as was Massengo being a decent player while many wanted him loaned out with some sort of protection that he hasn't had under LJ or Deano <laugh><laugh><laugh>.

Oh dear 1For, you are confusing.
In the last 2 weeks you've said :
'With a few additions to our decent squad' and a few days later 'we need a complete overhaul.
    Please reconcile.

And please be gentle me and Mrs R are just back from receiving our 2nd jabs.

Astonishing, LJ fired when his City career was at a high, sacked for keeping us down at level 2 for 4 plus years (unable to achieve level 1) sacked in the name of progress and change, not failure by SL but lo and behold, it has backfired, it has all not been a failure, we have maintained level 2 for a season, keeping us on the same high without him and at a far more economical cost level.

Sign up Nigel and start recovery, give him the necessary required time and support that we gave LJ, then make a fair comparison.

At the moment he’s fire fighting with the car crash left by the previous regime, give him time and backing and then judge.

Fired to progress,......failure.....as for "Economical cost level"............as with every club this season, because of "Covid"....
Down at level 2..<laugh>.............think you're forgetting......we've not done that before in the past 40 years...........such a failure!!
Why should NP have the necessary required time and support that we gave LJ, then make a fair comparison?? Sorry I must have got it wrong....I thought he was supposed to be the DB's in comparison ......with his experience and expertise, a season should do it :emoticon-0105-wink:

I'm not blaming it on Covid but because of the restrictions of Covid........we shut down Wiz, no fans, no revenue...........maybe you're not aware!! <laugh>

Where have I said the squad needs a complete overall??....if you look back,

I think that was your quote!!

"Convinced he will, but he needs a complete overhaul.
Can't see him getting enough backing to be anything other than mid table next year, at best.
With prevailing circumstances the 3 teams who come down must have a great chance of bouncing straight back."

Time to clear up the debris he inherited, he has not had a window yet, remember LJ only needed 3 and he promised Premier football & European qualification with-in 5 years and as you keep telling us he condemned us to 4.5 years of level 2 football only, with only 5 places progress, just over 1 per year.

I always took you as a fair character and you expect NP to achieve in a year what LJ failed to do in 4.5 years, Ah it must be the Covid.

LJ was and still is a very young up and coming coach.......for his years of experience, did wonders for our club...
NP has been there and seen it all.......if he is as good as everyone is saying.........even though our performances haven't been.....then he should progress us on much quicker..
For the record..........SL needs to hurry up and decide if he's the man for the long term, to give him every chance to set things up for next season..

Nice bit of fun and I do agree with you SL needs to make a decision, for good or bad and move on.

Not nonsense …. we have failed to equal or achieve the level he set, I did a record of LJ v DH [ peeps saying how good DH was over LJ ] and DH did worse than LJ and since LJ was replaced we haven't been up on the same level games won! pts gained!
one interesting fact that was pointed out to me by Friday colleague this am … NP had the sound turned off.. AG is a stadium that holds music events, so likely designed to [partly] maximise sound.
Broadcast sound is more "solid" than natural sound and will have a different effect .. he hit the nail on the head with canned laughter. Stadium was possibly like wearing a pair of headphones! no matter where you are in the stadium you all hear the same / almost same sound and volumne!
