I collected almost every one between 2007 and 2014, and bought a fair number even during Roland's time - though much fewer after the relegation. Would like to begin collecting them again this coming August
Just thought - does this mean both Curbs and Lennie as the match pundits? A super-heavyweight line up on Valley Pass!
I'm a bit surprised we don't have a 'programmes' thread here. Scans could be posted, that kind of thing... We wouldn't be breaking any copyright rules would we? That might put the mockers on it
Sort of looking forward to this one. Sunderland will be a real test, and they seem to be getting a great deal more out of MaGeady than we managed. Saying that, we are showing signs of playing football again, and the new manager bounce may yet give us an extra something. To be honest, both sides need a win, as we are chasing a play off spot, while the Mackems are in with a shout of avoiding the play offs and going up on merit. Last time we met, their form was sliding fast while we were buzzing (Doncaster home defeat aside) so this will probably be a sterner test than Wembley.
It will be a huge test. I think Sunderland will have too much for us. Admittedly if both Inniss and Famewo are playing I’ll think we might have a chance.
When that happened, for a few seconds I thought it couldn't be real. My brain refused to accept it. You don't get all the way to Wembley and then do that. If we'd lost that game because of it... ...doesn't bear thinking about. But we had the fighting spirit of '98 in us that day
As I was watching in the pub, I sat there with my brain just fused while Sky showed it over and over again. Even the Sunderland fans around me didn't really celebrate - I guess when you watch your team build a worldie and mash the opposition defence, you go crazy, but when the opposition defence serve up a park football own goal for you, there isn't the excitemet of watching your own team slice through the defence. Plus it was so early, we were all just settling down. Still, I never thought it was the end of the story. You knew we were good for a fight back with that team.
When I watched it at Wembley it seemed to happen in slow motion. I too thought it would galvanise us. From that moment onward we were the better team.
Yes, I agree that it seemed like slow motion as the ball rolled towards the net, and eventually reached the goalmouth. It seemed unreal, you go through in your mind beforehand all the possibilities, but gifting Sunderland a 1-0 lead for no apparent reason did not occur to anyone.
THank f*ck matchday's here at last. Not confident at all about this one, but hopeful as ever. I wonder how he'll tweak the team, considering Famewo will be fit and Miller will be fresh.
You could argue that he won the game for us, which fans don't forget. Bowyer's public humiliation of Williams was a turning point in his management career at Charlton.
