Ever since they realised they were running out of oil about 20 years ago, they've switched their whole focus on becoming a global centre for Trade and IT/software development and trying to bring in big business. They knew if they didnt they're fcked. The only problem was they're thick as mince so the whole rebuild and development of Dubai as well as setting up IT/software companies since 2000 has been through overseas consultants and businesses. From U.S. to China to Australia.
I spent 6 months there but military so not sure anything I know would be of use. They like a strong minded person who gets things done, got a few things sorted by acting the big man.

As it happens, I was actually up there clearing an old Well that over the years people had chucked a load of rocks down.
Its a scheduled monument, so I was doing some work to preserve the site alongside a local group that maintain it.
