That is correct to a certain extent. Before the fall of the Soviet Union people would call it Russia. Even today people still say Holland but actually mean the whole of The Netherlands. Not sure if a Scottish or Welsh person would have said going back to Blighty though. I shall have my people look into it more.

I think people in Britain and England use the terms England and Britain correctly. It is usual for people outside the UK to say England when they mean the UK.

I agree with what you say about the Soviet Union and Russia.

I didnt know that Holland was only part of the Netherlands. I checked and it's less than 20%! I'll use the correct names in future.

Yep, people in the UK use the terms correctly, but as you said the rest of the world generally don't.

I think there is a north and south Holland in the Netherlands, but to be honest even some of the Dutch say Holland when they mean the Netherlands. The daft, clog wearing stoners.

I mean countries that you couldn't swim to from the UK. Somebody in Armenia would know England and know UK but not necessarily know Scotland. When I lived in Korea I often has to explain the difference between Great Britain/United Kingdom/British Isles. It also doesn't help the situation when some people think the Union Flag is the English flag.

Fair enough,I suppose it doesn't help when they appear in global events like the Olympics or the Eurovision as the UK.

Kier Starmer visits a Mosque for a photo op then apologises for Muslims teaching how to throw gays off a roof .

He then apologises for his apology as that is offensive to Islam and Islamophobic to criticise the religion of peace .

Starmer then apologises to the LGBTQP+ community for not condemning gays being thrown off roofs.

The lefty woke never ending circle of grovelling apologies.
