that must have been those teles with the additional control called the vertical strangle as well as the vertical hold i guess
Probably why England have never won the World Cup, Jules Rimet Trophy or whatever its called these days since that era that is long gone. The era when we had proper managers of which Sir Alex Ferguson is one of the last. And where now an actors qualification is needed to be a footballer, especially one who can perfect the art of the Dying Swan.
That wasn't my point. There are some qualifications that are worth very little apart from opening doors; Business Studies is one, as we both seem to know through experience. HOWEVER, there are qualifications, like Medicine that you will NEVER be able to gain employment at without and it has nothing to do with opening doors. You cannot generalise about qualifications. You obviously think football coaching requires no formal learning or education. I think it does.
Like many things, qualifications in football management are only part of the equation. Natural flair and ability play a huge part alongside personality. And as for CPD, if you're not prepared to continue learning, you'll wind up an out of date dinosaur! (Ps FAO scooter guy, I did C&G 2240 also! In about 1996 though)
Some Intresting thoughts and theorys Im open to all opinions when it comes to football. The courses are useful and no doubt Clough Busby ect.. Were great managers but could they of been even better if they had the knowledge what is avalible today? My job is youth football and about how young players learn its no good having knowledge if you dont know how to delivier it. Personally Coaching badges have helped me become a better coach and think there a good thing for the future of the English game.
I'm not in disagreement about your ethos towards modern coaching but I do liken today's approach similar to the X Factor and singers, pop stars or whatever. The likes of The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Elton John, etc are still around because they came up through the ranks the hard way, long stints at clubs and small venues, which gave them their grounding. Likewise the older manager Shankly, Busby, Paisley, Robson, Nicholson, Clough, Ramsey, Mercer, Allison, Mee, I could go on but you get my drift, they played the game and came up through the ranks, no badges for them just European and World cups.
So even though you think qualifications mean bugger all after getting a BA you go onto further your career by doing a post grad diploma?? Did you tell your boss im not doing a post grad diploma as i can do the job already, we both know that right!! Or did you see him and say how can i prove i can do the job?
Here is how they do it at Ajax: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...iew-Ajax--Arsenal-team-mate-Martin-Keown.html Can you see any of our arrogant pr1cks coaching the youth set up? No they think like Shearer give me the England job as i have "been there". Look at the disaster Martin Johnson has made of the England rugby team. Brian Ashton got the sack for getting to the Final.
i did my diploma in my own time at my own expense. This then opened another door for me to leave, work hard and better myself through hard work and success. From then on, its been ongoing success, quite a few knock backs, perhaps a couple of letters after my name, networking and luck in being in the right place at the right time. That said, like many many folk, we are always no more than one or two months away from a fall anyway.
Has Keown had one of them "Rooneyesque" Hair lift jobbies?? please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
It's not like the badges are a substitute for experience or vice versa. Both experience and knowledge are required. What's wrong with getting as much of both as possible?
