So in terms of fixtures left against top8 (ie the ones in contention for CL places): Going to ignore Citeh as they are going to win the title and therefore nailed on for top4. ManU- Spurs, Pool, Leicester Leicester- Wham, ManU, Chelsea, Spurs Chelsea- Wham, Citeh, Leicester Pool- ManU Wham- Leicester, Chelsea, Everton Spurs- ManU, Everton, Leicester Everton- Spurs, Wham, Citeh Of course this doesn't account for games against wildcard teams like Villa, Arsenal and Leeds, nor against relegation fighters. More that they are all going to drop points as most still have to play each other.
We are playing fewer top 8 sides and so called big 6 sides BUT our records this season against those has been relatively good, it’s against the so called battlers that we’ve been poor. And we have our fair share of those from now on. It’s a good thing that it seems that we have turned a corner and fingers crossed the rivals take points off each other in a democratic fashion. We just don’t want 3 of them to suddenly find amazing form and crush the others. Chelsea are helping and let’s hope others follow. Not nice when it’s really out of our hands. You could argue that playing against those rivals would have been better as the outcome would have been under our control. And always unreliable to look at fixture list and work out the outcome
Who ever is 4th is the target. Whoever is behind 4th is irrelevant in chasing. Imo 7 more wins for us.
Meh. Utd would need to be spectacularly bad and their boasting about 2nd is keeping agent ole in the job. I'll take 4th all day, 3rd is a big bonus but winning big ears would be absolutely awesome.
They're only a point ahead of Leicester, albeit with a game in-hand. I don't see a difference between second and fourth either, just think it would be funny after downing tools for three months.
Might need to be third Isn’t there a combination whereby If spouts win europa that whoever finished 4th gives way in CL ?
Would also have to mean chelsea win the CL abs finish outside top 4 though as you can have 5 clubs in CL but not 6.
Unless City decide to buy Kane this summer (despite what they said), think he's left it too late to achieve real silverware. 28 by the summer and you can count on Spurs demanding £100m+ for him. Don't think his contract is running down anytime soon and realistically he's not going to down tools to get a move away, he's not that type of player. Then theres the external factors that he couldn't control, ie finances after Covid and the rise of Haaland as the most indemand striker in Europe. Its like Zaha and Palace, that big last chance is running out. May get that Van Persie swansong season at the very end, but ultimately that will be it.
think it is if a team outside the top 4 wins CL and another wins EL as max you can have is 5 so if we win CL & Spurs win EL while both finishing outside top 4 it will be funny listening to the wails of a team in blue which came 4th . Edit FFS must learn to type quicker
The only way a way a team.outisde the top 4 wins the cl is is chelsea somehow best us in the cl. We are getting third. We are winning the cl. We are going to have a bus parade as boris will have chip tagged everyone by then of may.
