Trying a Sunday lunch takeaway today, not had one before, so fingers crossed. Roast beef, roasties, Yorkshire puds, greens, carrots and cauliflower cheese.
It’s all relative really, local and small doesn’t always mean better quality or value. The fish I had down here on Friday was supplied by Smales. They seem to supply most of the ones round here. 11oz and 7oz fillets. But I am sure the chip shop near me cut the 11oz in two. Oddest shaped fillets you could ever see.
I will buy so-so local fish n chips over the likes of Papas. I know Papas employ local folks, use some suppliers etc but prefer to keep the £ in the local economy. Quality is important as is VFM, but ethical patronage is also important. Hence the popularity of Trinity Market food.
Local sole trader businesses are the future of the high street. If I lived in Hull I would use my local chip shop. When up for a game we use ones on Endike or Greenwood Ave. I would not drive just to have takeaway fish and chips. Driving home, I sometimes stop at Papas. I actually don’t really like Carvers either,but if we was in Town would consider them.
Carvers on South Street is fine. It was the one near Fruit market that was disgusting. Thst may have changed now Bob passed it on to Bob. Priory on Whitefrisrgate is okay also.
