I see that the financial, pages are blaming Brexit for yesterday's failed Deliveroo share launch. The implications fir The City could be dire. The knock on effect is likely to be that launches will take place elsewhere after the shares took a 30% hit in the first two days of trading.

There used to be a character, in the Pompey fanzine, called Southsea common, who talked in a very broad Portsmuff accent. Like reading Irvine Welsh.

"I'm goin deyn teyn, to go reynd the reyndabout!"

I should have found some way of shorting the Deliveroo IPO as everybody with more than one brain cell knew that it was going to tank.

In perfect operating conditions (everyone at home ordering stuff to be delivered), Deliveroo lost £220 million in the last year. The IPO valued the company at £8 billion – this was a worse bet than Tesla. As soon as it opened it sank, losing about 25 per cent (£2 billion) by the close of play.

I had been reading some people who are in the know about how the financial world really works (not those twonks that write drivel in the popular media blaming Brexit) and a number of the big financial institutions had said no to Deliveroo because there were two classes of shares and the founder was keeping a big chunk of the business in shares that had special voting rights above all others.

When Just Eat announced on Thursday that they had taken on 2,000 of their ‘self employed’ delivery people as PAYE employees, Deliveroo immediately dropped a couple of per cent more because it will end up having to do the same and picking up the bill will reduce profit margin – if it ever makes one.

The Brexit angle was from Bloomberg . Not really popular media. If it was that obvious then Lndon should have refused the flotation. A sign of desperation from The City with their losing out to other financial hubs?

Business model of Deliveroo is sound, it was just massively over valued from the start. £2B would be a fair value, as the market will now set its true value.

But lets blame brexit as Donga says, and buy the way its our fault the EU cant sort its **** out on the jab front.

Why do you continue to hate the EU. We are no longer in it. We are free, we control our own borders, fisheries, agriculture. We no longer have to bend to their undemocratic laws and so on and so forth.

Brexit meant Brexit my friend. Let's concentrate on making Britain better and not harking back to a less glorious time.

    Rule Britania!
