I have also read that they are trying to manufacture a tablet form, which again would help with people who dislike needles.
Got to admit not keen on needles myself but being ECV I had to have it really.
I just looked the other way and didn’t feel a thing .....and the nurses/doctors giving the jabs are excellent at what they do.
If you decided to have the jab, explain your fear of needles and they will undoubtedly help you.
My mother is not keen and I told her to tell the nurse(of which she did) and they eased her fears and she felt nothing.

 

I recently posted about a small Kings College London study that indicates that the Pfizer jab is not very effective in cancer sufferers, especially when the second jab isn’t given 3 weeks after the first.
If I had known this, when my wife was given her Pfizer injection, I think we would have declined it and waited for another brand that was equally effective for all.
If I remember correctly, the report indicated that the first jab only gave cancer sufferers 39% immunity from the first jab and 46% after the second, when given 5 weeks after the first, which is considerably less than the figures being predicted.
Given that my wife has still not had her second jab and her having started chemotherapy, (last week) which attacks the immune system, we don’t even know whether or not she has any immunity to Covid.
Her consultant has written to our GP and suggested that her second Pfizer jab should be targeted to coincide with the time when her blood levels have returned to their best levels, between treatments, but even then we don’t know what level her immunity will be or if the chemo will negate the value of the second jab.

 

I think the fear of needles must stem from the past....when they reused needles, so they really hurt when they got blunt. Best to be at the front of the queue in the fifties. Modern hypodermics scarcely hurt at all and any discomfort depends on the viscosity and volume of the injected material. I never felt the Astra-Zeneca injection....whereas the flu injection felt like someone had tapped my shoulder. If you don't look, you'll never even know.

Tell me to bugger off for being a nosey bastard with a memory like an elephant (I asked for a megaWilly but the lord misheard me) ... do I recall you had a jaw operation a few years back? How did you cope with the injection for that, or did you get a mate to chin you first so you weren’t paying attention?

Must be a tricky phobia to have.

 

If the Novavax vaccine is approved, (looking very likely) these will ready end of May/ start of June.

Impressive memory! I did indeed, 2014 so 7 years ago.

If I remember rightly, I had people pinning me down whilst putting me to sleep. Think I refused and kept putting it off a few times as well. Post operation I was too high on morphine to care what went in to me!!

In fairness, the nurses were very very good with me that day- they knew my fear, and although I was in a complete and utter state, they managed to get me through it, but the experience itself was horrific.

If I'm honest, and this probably weird and very unusual, my fear got worse after having that done, so god knows if I would have the courage to go through that again.

I remember my daughter having her first jabs, and I tried to be brave and be there for her and my partner, but the doctor took one look at me and told me to wait outside

Shouldn’t really “like” this, but I’m glad this sort of thing is being uncovered - not that the mainstream media will report it .....

 

Seems most of Europe is suspending the AZ program due to worry over blood clots.

Seems to me the only clots are the ones in charge of the European vaccination program.

 

I hope not anyway.... I have a scan on my neck next week as a follow up to my little scare on that topic. I had the AZ jab.

I work at a Regional test centre and only security guards are employed by G4S. The other 3 companies are Mitie, Sodexo and Boots. Im told this is the case nationwide.

 

That is correct. I tendered one of the centres and one of the companies you named won it. As one poster regularly does, they post stuff without really checking it, to make people, processes, government look bad, when on this point he is way off, the centres are pretty good and the tenders well put together with massive DD around pricing and delivery.

Edit - the security officers will likely transfer to new providers of TFM contracts, or leave and work on other things, or they may work for Boots, but Mitie will defo have their own guards.

Joking aside, these things always need investigating...appears that clots are mainly associated with younger people, especially women. And this group is less likely to fall seriously ill and die....a consideration. However, Covid is so dangerous that any risk (even if it is real) has to be set against that.....especially as the vaccine reduces the chance of passing Covid onto more vulnerable people. Avoiding risk is generally a good idea....except when you are in the middle of a pandemic.
