Its a no-brainer in my opinion..... Yes, but only playing for about an hour to be begin with. https://rokerreport.sbnation.com/20...nds-team-for-friday-now-that-hes-fit-to-start
Bring him in off the bench for me. McFadzean seems to have settled a lot lately and doesn't deserve to be torpedoed straight away, in sure LJ will manage his comeback sensibly.
I think Hume is a great wingback at this level (and probably above) but not so good a fullback. A few weeks ago I would have said he will be straight back into the side, but McFadzean has improved and I'm not so sure now. My view is play a back three and Hume will start, play a back four and McFadzean will start (until his next daft mistake )
Ease him back in over the next 2-3 games - 30 mins off the bench then back in to the first XI McFadzean has improved but he isn't good enough. Hume is easily the best LB at the club
Another nice post by Tees keeps the board buzzing and then 3 nice sensible posts, which unfortunately are so sensible there is nothing to add as you boys have covered everything, unless we have a wild card post of course
Yep I'd put him back in, when I say that though, same goes for Wright, I mean when he's ready not just bosh first game back he does 90 minutes. McFadzean has been doing alright but I really rate Hume, he's a weapon. Just needs the Johnson magic sprinkled on his defensive work, and a confidence boost but I'm certain he'll get that.
Its no coincidence Mcfadzeans performances have improved with the imminent arrival of Hume. He needs to be on his toes now, it shows the importance of having a strong squad with numerous players fighting for a place in the starting 11
i'm sure the majority of posters think Hume is 40% better than Faz and we really need to play our strongest team with the two strongest games coming up
I know i agree. I really hope Jones is ready to play again. His last game against Pompey seems like ages ago now.
We have to trust LJ and the medical team on this. They will have a plan for him but no doubt a fit and on form Hume would and should walk into this team and any other in league one
saw the training video and jones was doing all the same as the rest of the lads...did not spy wright though, was hoping both would be at least back up to full training.
When all are fit both Connor and Bailey and Sanderson along with Hume would be in my starting 11, that leaves Power and O/9 to move into midfield , how this would be accommodated or if it ever will who knows. I would loose no sleep if Maguire, Gooch, McFadzean, Vokins and Flanagan were never required again , not to everyone's liking of course, just my opinion.
Happy to see McFadzean getting some love, he deserves it, and I don’t think he should be dropped given how he’s been playing.
Bench First. Really don't rate him that much tbh. He's very quick which flatters to deceive but Im very hard to please!!. Granted he's better than Faz though
Not sure if I completely agree, of course our best players should be in the starting 11, and others on the bench.. that I would say is taken as read... I think there is some minor disputes on the best 11 for instance Jones and Stewart have more to do for me to prove they should be in at the start. Gooch is tricky cos I have never seen him as an out and out winger, if not there where, wingback? Then there us that very important stat... for 92 mins and 45 secs Gooch was not very good.. then for 15 secs he got on the end of a superb ball by Mcgeady and ended our Wembley jinx. Maguire when he is on form ( which has never been consistent) can rival Mcgeady for creativity and goal scoring...so if he starts and his not on it, hook him or bring him on later? Macfazdean started playing really awful and had got better... scored a crucial goal from a Power cross. Imho, in no particular order, Burge, Wyke, Mcgeady, Sanderson, Power and 09 are definite starts for me.. then we need a good CB, Bailey-Wight.. and RB and LB, I think we have them but they are injured Hume and McLaughlin....the there is some choices O'Brien/Steward, Jones/Diamond and Scowen/Winchester not forgetting Leadbitter
If 'being a better player' was the only reason for inclusion there would be no room for discussion. It's not. There are players, with more natural talent than O'Brien but don't improve the team as he does. All of our midfield are quicker than Leadbitter but can't do what he does. Sometimes it's just a case of how a player works with a team mate ... ... Nobby Styles wasn't even a football player but won the World Cup.
Bally wasn’t a great player. I ****ing idolised him for years because of what he brought to the team.
I think there's a lot we don't see in training, such as readiness and fitness. It's nice to have options and I'm sure Johnson will pick a squad aiming to keep on winning games. Given our form over the last 2 months he certainly seems to have earned his stripes. It's also fascinating to see who he uses against Oxford with the Posh 6-pointer coming up on Monday. It's nice to have that (unusual) feeling of optimism too at the close of a season. We play many of the stronger league teams in the coming month on the back of a string of great results including silverware. We might not win them all but with a full strength squad we can expect to make the first two and could very well end up with another trophy as Champions. It feels really odd talking about Sunderland like this. I think I may have to lie down x
